Merry Christmas to All and To All the Week #5 State Scoring Leaders

Here is our weekly list of the top scoring performances in the state, separated by East, Middle and West Tennessee distinction. One of our favorite features as relayed to me by numerous college coaches of all levels.

This is also the forum to announce milestones including 1,000 point scoring efforts and such. Please let me know if we miss any of that information. You can email me at andre@tnprephoops.com.

My intent is to post this list every Monday or Tuesday throughout the season.

Putting everyone on notice, the Carter Hornets are rolling as of late, led by senior shooting guard Jordan Bowden (Carter) who lit up the scoreboards at the Gatlinburg-Pittman Holiday Event. Bowden dropped 37 in the opener against Livingston Academy and grabbed 19 boards just for fun then lifted 39 in a win over Lebanon. Carter went on to take the title against White County.

DeKalb County got themselves some solid production this past week from a pair of players in Isaac Beck (DeKalb County) and Justin Bone (DeKalb County). Bone had a nice week scoring 27 against Macon County and adding 26 in a win over Boyd Christian. Beck mirrored the same production with 27 against Boyd Christian and 26 against Monterey.

Brett Warner (Collierville) just quietly moves along piling up points. The Delta State signee dropped 29 against Millington Central and then closed the week strong with a 33 spot against district foe Germantown.

Etching his name into the lexicon at Johnson County High School, Chase Phillips (Johnson County) trudged past the coveted 1,000 point barrier this week.

Leon Howard (Nashville Overton) is progressively flying under the radar with his scoring exploits as of late. The senior lead guard had another solid week scoring 32 markers in a loss to their sister school Memphis Overton.

Quietly having an outstanding start to a burgeoning senior campaign, Marcus Lytle (ECS) is doing his part. The active guard started the week with a cool 29 against Harding Academy then closed strong with an additional 26 against the Memphis Metro.

Jacob Cawood (Midway) has seen every defense that you could imagine this season. The senior post is surrounded by an entire new and painfully young cast. Cawood has still managed to get his points starting with 28 against Harriman and closing the week strong with 26 against Class A state semi-finalist Meigs County.

Calen Parker (Eagleville) left an indelible impression on the record books here at Eagleville High School as he dropped a school record 43 points in a game against Huntland this past week.

Not quite sure what type of school Memphis Metro actually is but Nate Vaughn (Memphis Metro) is surely attracting some attention for his scoring prowess. Vaughn dropped a state high 52 points against MHEA then added an impressive 28 against ECS.
