In Missouri they say Show Me!!!!!!!!
Melrose took those words to heart blasting one of their best and capturing the Mike Kehoe Great 8 Classic.
Melrose dropped the bomb on Moberly 62-40 and the crowd in Mizzou was priviledged to get the opportunity to see the exploits of Adonis Thomas (Melrose).
The rising sophomore phenom was spectacular in the title game scoring 23 points, grabbing 15 caroms and blocking 9 shots.
Joining Thomas in the scoring column were emerging senior scorer TroMarcus Toney (Melrose) who chipped in with 15 and "Mighty" Chris Jones (Melrose) who added 11.
Jones was sensational in semi-final action scorching the twine for 32 large in a solid victory against Helias (Mo.).
Coach Johnson was quick to point out the difference in his squad since the arrival of Eric Watson (Melrose). The powerful young running back was a Tennessee hooper a few years back but skipped over to Mississippi and is now back in the Memphis fold. His emergence and his 11 assists paced the Golden Wildcats.
Melrose stands at 13-1 on the young season and gets back to reality with a tough contest against Memphis Central coming up next week. Good enough to be our West Tennessee Game of the Week......we'll see.
