McLemore Leads the Charge in Week #2

Week #2 brought some close games and some outstanding performances to the forefront. I will be able to attend for the remainder of the league and look forward to seeing everyone in attendance.

 

 

 

Duke 79

Wake Forest 78

DeBrell McLemore (Franklin) scored 22 points and helped lead Duke to a narrow 79-78 victory over Wake Forest in the opening game of Week #2 action.

 

McLemore was assisted in the scorebook by Colin McMullin (Harpeth) who dropped 20 and Matthew Hailey (Ravenwood) and Spencer Clements (Creek Wood) with 12 points each.

 

Will Downey (Ensworth) led Wake Forest with 24 markers followed closely by rising sophomore Asa Duvall (Brentwood Academy) with 22 points. Christian Haile (Shelbyville) continued his assault on the scoring column adding 17 in the close loss.  

 

 

North Carolina 83

Clemson 70

Denzel Clark (White's Creek) dropped 22 points leading all scorers and lifting North Carolina to 2-0 with an 83-70 victory over Clemson.

 

Joining Clark in the scoring ledger were rising freshman Thomas Richard (CPA) who finished with 17, Micah Farmer (MTCS) who contributed 14 and Jeffrey Carter (Maplewood) who added 10 in the victory.

 

Connor Brandon (Wilson Central) and Derrick Hankins (Cumberland County) led Clemson with 18 points apiece.

 

Keenan Froedden (Sycamore) pitched in with 15 markers and Alex Thomas (Ensworth) added 11.  

 

 

 

 

 

Florida 99

Vanderbilt 81

Florida, behind 28 markers from Jack "The Natural" Montague (Brentwood), moved their season record to 2-0 with a 99-81 gatoring of Vanderbilt.

 

Montague led six players in double digits including Terrence Dixon (LaVergne) with 18, Kyle Weldon (Rossview) with 14, Cody Bybee (Creek Wood) with 11 and Kyle Carter (LaVergne) and Leroy Jefferson (Blackman) with 10 points each.

 

Not to be outdone Vandy also placed six players in the double digit category led by Ricky Bowser (Franklin Classical) and Hunter Culp (Camden Central) with 15 points apiece.

 

Jaleel Querry (Maplewood) added 13, Will Gilbert (CPA) and Cole Harrison (BGA) contributed 12 points each and Bubba Clifton (Summertown) added 11.  

 

 

 

Kentucky 94

LSU 68

Ross Welch (USN) and Josh Erickson (DCA) both scored 22 points and Kentucky pulled away besting LSU 94-68.

 

Daijon Williams (Clarksville) made his fall league debut with 18 points for the winners while Michael Carr (Dickson County) and Jonathan Swift (Franklin Classical) pitched in with 11 and 10 respectively.

 

Rollie Plunkett (Harpeth) made his debut as well scoring 15 points in the loss. Chase Argo (Lancaster Christian) added 13 points for LSU.

 

 

 

Georgia Tech 74

Tennessee 72

Kiont Jones (Spring Hill) and Nick Walker (Nashville Christian) scored 25 and 22 points respectively leading Georgia Tech to a narrow 74-72 win over hard luck Tennessee.  

If you recall Tennessee suffered a two point loss last week and despite five players in double digits could not pull out the win.

 

Billy Hughes (Hunter's Lane) led Tennessee with 15 points on the afternoon.

 

David Anderton (Harpeth) and Tyree Nightingale (East Literature) each added 13 points while Caleb Chowbay (Mt. Juliet) finished with 12 and Issac Harris (Hunter's Lane) added 10 in his fall league debut.

 

Zach Hodskins (Ravenwood) finished with 17 points for the winners.
