Mason a Monster in CBL Regular Season Finale

Chris Mason (Melrose) is on the way up.

The Class of 2009 rising senior is making his name this summer and wants everyone to know he's for real.

Mason, the CBL Player of the Week, dropped 40 points, including 7 threes, to lead the Bulls past the Pistons 89-66 in the regular season finale of the CBL Basketball League in Memphis.

Mason, who will be called upon to lead a young Melrose squad this season, was at his best also finding time to grab 8 boards and make sure his young teammate Adonis Thomas (Melrose) had enough dimes to finish the evening with 25 points of his own.

Chris Crawford (Sheffield) led the Pistons with 30.

In other action the unbeaten Timberwolves behind 20 points from Anthony Jones (Raleigh-Egypt) squoze by the Lakers 60-52. Joseph Brady (Raleigh-Egypt) added 13 and 7 for the winners and emerging junior point Laterick Flowers (Kirby) added 10 points in the win.

In the opener the Heat behind 16 points and 15 caroms from Ronald Brown (Raleigh-Egypt) got by the Knicks 65-58. Reggie Fondren (Raleigh-Egypt) added a double/double in the win.

"Mighty" Chris Jones (Melrose) led the Knicks with 17 and 9 while Anderson Cunningham (Cordova) finished with 16 points.
