March Madness Reigns Supreme in Class AAA

What more can you say about what took place this afternoon during the AAA portion of the state tournament games played on Thursday. We had blow-outs, surprises, big time performances, nail bitters and much more............

 

Walker Valley 62

Science Hill 48

Brice Sharp was the talk of the tourney after the Mustangs moved themselves to 35-1 on the season with a solid 62-48 win over the Hilltoppers.

Sharp dropped 25 points and snared 10 boards in his standout performance. Carson Newman signee David Ware scored 15 and junior Cody Burrell added 12 for the Stangs as they move on to round two against Memphis Rakeigh Egypt.

Chattanooga signee Josh Odem led the Toppers with 15 while Larry Smith contributed a double/double with 12 points and 11 boards.

 

 

Raleigh Egypt 49

Beech 45

Ronald Brown parlayed a spirited dunk and an opportunistic putback into the winning formula as the Pharoahs had themselves an old fashioned slobberknocker with the Buccaneers finally sneaking away with a 49-45 triumph.

Brown would finish with 13 points along with senior Anthony Jones.

The Pharoahs had much trouble with the inside force of Beech junior John Taylor. The efficient banger was 8 of 12 from the floor finishing with a game high 21 points.

The win moves Raleigh Egypt into a Friday evening showdown with Walker Valley.

 

 

Clarksville Northeast 62

Bearden 53

Dermetrye Brown made his massive presence felt in this one scoring 22 points and leading the Eagles to a 62-53 win over the states top ranked AAA squad.

The Eagles took command with a 29-14 fourth quarter overflow to place themselves in the semi-final and a date with White Station.

Telvin James and Jeremy Purvis were huge down the stretch scoring 17 and 16 points respectively, including tough foul shots with the game on the line.

Blake Jenkins was a bright spot for the Bulldogs finishing with 16 points.

 

 

White Station 80

Red Bank 63

Joe Jackson was simply himself while senior Ferrakohn Hall finished with 24 points and 11 boards and the Spartans concluded action on Thursday with an 80-63 win over Red Bank.

By the way Jackson finished with a game high 25 and classmate Julian Burton added 11.

Sophomore Nick Ross continued his fine second year campaign finishing with 19. Senior Bradley Britt added 11 in defeat.
