Marberry Starts Big as Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League Tips Off

Week #1 of the Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League was a monster success with some big time performances from some of the best Middle Tennessee has to offer. Let's get to the action.    

 

 

Vanderbilt 91

Kentucky 67

Jaylen Barford (Jackson Southside) and Cole Harrison (Brentwood) scored 23 points apiece as Vanderbilt got off to a raucous start with a big 91-67 win over Tennessee.

Joining the pair in the scoring column were Austin Gee (Ezell-Harding) with 13 and Chas Jones (Cane Ridge) with 11 markers.

Joshua Joy (DCA) led Tennessee with 19 points followed closely by Jade Patrick (Pearl Cohn) with 15 and Will Groos (Brentwood) with 12.

Vanderbilt puts their 1-0 mark on the line this Saturday at CPA against Kentucky while Tennessee looks to rebound against cross-division foe Clemson.

 

Clemson 81

Duke 69

A.J. Merriweather (Jackson Southside) scored 21 points on an array of short jumpers and dunks leading Clemson to a hard fought 81-69 win over a determined Duke squad.

The game was tight for a major portion of the contest before Clemson pulled away late in the final stanza. Daniel Norl (Kenwood) chipped in with 12 points in the win.

Jake Allsmiller (CPA) and Nate Moran (BGA) scored 17 and 16 respectively combing for 9 made threes in the tough loss. Kindravious Webster (Hillsboro) showed he could score as well leading his Duke squad with 18 points on the day.

Clemson will meet Tennessee in action this Saturday at CPA. Duke looks to bounce back from their close loss with a battle against Georgia Tech.

 

 

Kentucky 87

Florida 71

Jacob Saunders (Cheatham County) started this one off right. The rising junior shooting guard notched 29 points as Kentucky bested Florida 87-71. Saunders hit five threes in the game and shot remarkably well from the field overall. Jalen Duke (MLK) added 16 for Kentucky in the victory.

T.J. Steward (Siegel) led Florida with 19 points. Some careful player movement resulted in the aforementioned A.J. Merriweather (Jackson Southside) permanently moving to the Florida his arrival at the half resulted in 13 points for the rising senior wing. Jimmy Greer (Cane Ridge) added 11 for Florida.

Kentucky puts their one game win streak on the line this Saturday against fellow unbeaten Vanderbilt. Florida will tangle with LSU.

 

 

North Carolina 77

Georgia Tech 75

Braxton Blackwell (CPA) was the only player in double digits as North Carolina slid past Georgia Tech 77-75 in Tennessee Prep Hoops Fall League action this past Saturday. Blackwell, who finished with 22, led a very balanced effort where every player on the squad scored including five players with 8 points apiece.

Austin Mullinax (Waverly Central) played very well for Georgia Tech scoring 21 points while Jacob McCullough (Hendersonville) added 20 in the narrow loss. Adrian Scott (Cane Ridge) chipped in with 14 and played an outstanding floor game for Georgia Tech.

North Carolina now tangles with Wake Forest this Saturday while Georgia Tech looks to bounce back against Duke.

 

 

Wake Forest 94

LSU 71

Four players notched double digits led by Jacob Williams (Wilson Central) with 31 as Wake Forest beat LSU 94-71 in the final game of Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League on Saturday.

Williams was a beast hitting 14 of 16 shots and his effort offset another outstanding effort from Rob Marberry (FRA).

The rising senior scored a league high 33 points but could get his LSU squad over the hump.

Joining Williams on the scoring docket were Stetson commitment Asa Duvall (Brentwood), who came out like a ball of fire, with 14 points, Jalen Hunter (Goodpasture) fiished with 11 and Ashton Hood (USN) added 10 in the win.

Duncan Smith (MBA) pitched in with 12 points in the LSU loss.

Wake Forest will battle North Carolina this Saturday at CPA while LSU tangles with Florida.
