Seniors step up in crucial moments.
Joevante Arnold (Liberty Tech) stepped up after Mr. Basketball finalist and Richmond signee Kendall Anthony (Liberty Tech) fouled out and finished with 15 points leading the Crusaders to the 2011 Class AA state championship.
Arnold sealed the deal with a steal and breakaway slam pushing the Liberty Tech lead to 62-54 with less than a minute to play.
Anthony finished with 13 points before fouling out. DeAndre Barnette (Liberty Tech) added 10 points for the Crusaders who now field an 11-1 mark at the state tournament with the only loss coming in last years state finals to Bolivar Central.
Sean McKissack (East Literature) finished with 17 points and Chris Willingham (East Literature) added 15 markers for East Literature.
For his outstanding efforts throughout the tourney Anthony was named the MVP of the tourney. Joining him on all-tournament team were Barnette, Arnold, McKissack, Willingham, Brandon Cole (Stone Memorial), Tre Polk (Bolivar Central), Barry Griffin (Howard) and Cheau Hendricks (East Literature).
Kedren Johnson (Marshall County) was named Mr. Basketball in the Class AA ranks. The Vanderbilt signee was one of the three finalists including Kendall Anthony (Liberty Tech) and Martavious Newby (BTW).
