Once again I have scoured the newspapers, faxes, face books and other forms of media that come to my attention compiling a list of the top scorers in the state for each week of the season.
If you know of some scoring exploits or a scoring milestone such as 1,000 point club or something of that nature please email me at andre@tnprephoops.com and I will get this added to the next week's story.
College coaches have told me this is one of their favorite features as it helps them get an understanding on the pulse of the new season.
Rayford Albright (Manassas) got his senior campaign off to a rousing start banking in 29 against Westwood and following up with a strong 24 against MLK in a holiday tournament.
Austin Nichols (Briarcrest Christian) parlayed his recent signing with the Tigers of Memphis into a huge start of the 2012-2013 basketball seasons. The potential McDonald's All-American poured in 40 points in a victory over Bartlett after a 35 point effort against FCA. Earlier in the week he recorded a strong 26 in a win over MHEA.
Dedric Lawson (Hamilton) and Braxton Blackwell (CPA) are the top two players in the Class of 2016 and they got their respective high school careers off to an exciting start. Lawson dropped 29 in a victory over Cordova while Blackwell finished with 28 in a big win over Brentwood.
Jalen Duke (MLK) wants everyone to know that he is for real as the rising sophomore got his season off to a big start scoring 26 points against Manassas in a holiday event over in Memphis. He then added 19 against Wooddale and closed the tourney strong with 28 against Bartlett.
Jaquan Lewis (Dickson County) shook up the record books dropping 50 points in a holiday classic in Missouri. The VCU signee added a cool 27 earlier in the week against West Creek and another 24 in a close win in the same event.
Jacob Saunders (Cheatham County) continues to climb the charts with his scoring exploits. The rising junior shooting guard dropped 27 points against Houston County and made believers of a lot of folks with a 28 point effort against a solid Kenwood squad.
Austin Howard (Giles County) had an outstanding game scoring 41 markers against Lawrence County earlier in the week. Kenny Dean (Alcoa) came straight from the gridiron and scored 37 points in a tough win over Livingston Academy at the Knoxville Central Thanksgiving Classic.
