Juwan Johnson (Southwind) West Tennessee Player of the Week (2)

One of the big surprises in Memphis this season has been the emergence of another powerhouse squad in the Jaquars of Southwind High School.

Coach Paul Edwards has brought the relatively new school into the mainstream consiousness of the Memphis Hoops scene and his squad is on the verge of challenging for a state title.

Juwan Johnson (Southwind) is one of the emerging pieces of this puzzle. The 6'4 junior guard was outstanding this past week as he poured in 28 points in a victory over Houston followed by a cool 26 in a 94-65 thrashing of Wooddale to become our slection as the West Tennessee Player of the Week for Week #2.

Southwind is currently nranked second in the state with a gaudy 16-1 record.
