Johnson in High Gear at Peach Jam

Arriving this afternoon at the Nike Peach Jam with excitement and reserve since we are not represented well in the event with only the Memphis YOMCA 16 and under squad carrying the torch for the team representation.

Hold up, the Georgia Stars are here, yes, that means my first glimpse this summer of Kedren Johnson (Marshall County). You remember K.J. strong, sturdy point guard with the braids who tore through the state tourney last year before foul trouble got the best of him.

Here come the Stars and what to my wondering eyes did appear no braids and at least 15 pounds lighter than when the high season concluded the new sleeker Johnson was as they say so fresh and so clean, clean.

His stat line has been gaudy as the Stars have racked up three wins against one loss. Johnson dropped 10 points in the lone loss to BABC, followed this up with 9 points, 7 boards and 4 dimes against The Family in a win.

Next game against Each One Teach One Johnson flirted with a triple double scoring 14 points, grabbing 11 caroms and dishing out nine assists in a two point win then the night cap saw a blow out of the Albany City Rocks with Johnson scoring 9, grabbing 7 and dishing 5 in the game.

I will catch his act once more before playoff action begins tomorrow afternoon and have some details on how the Memphis YOMCA is fairing as Nike does not believe in stats for the 16 and under division. Very sad.
