Hoop Fest Hero’s Dominate Week #7 Tennessee State Scoring List

Here is our weekly list of the top scoring performances in the state, separated by East, Middle and West Tennessee distinction. One of our favorite features as relayed to me by numerous college coaches of all levels.

This is also the forum to announce milestones including 1,000 point scoring efforts and such. Please let me know if we miss any of that information. You can email me at andre@tnprephoops.com.

My intent is to post this list every Monday or Tuesday throughout the season.

Hunter Vick (Camden Central) had himself an outstanding week. The sophomore shooting guard piled up 27 points against Fairview then closed his strong week with a 26 spot on Montgomery Central.

Matt Harveston (Marion County) is loading up the scoreboards in lower East Tennessee. Harveston had another productive week and has been a mainstay on the list if you follow it weekly. He knocked in 27 points against Bledsoe County and blasted a season high 36 against Lookout Valley.

Chris Claybrooks (McGavock) is one of the more exciting players on the Metro Nashville scene. The senior guard is having a very productive senior campaign including a 29 spot on rival Nashville Overton and a slick 25 against Glencliff.

Tyler Nichols (Elizabethton) made the folks in Elizabethton proud notching his name in school folklore forever surpassing the coveted 1,000 point mark for his prep career.

In Middle Tennessee a trio of players solidified their names in school history moving past the 1,000 point threshold for the careers. Byron Dean (Hillwood) accomplished the feat this week as did Chase Clark (Houston County). Kenny Cooper (FRA) etched his name into the record books in only his junior season with his 1,000th point, so he will be shooting for the top spot as he moves on.

Tennessee represented huge at the Penny Hardaway Hoop Fest this past week as Memphis Hamilton defeated unbeaten nationally ranked Oak Hill Academy with relative ease. Keelon Lawson (Hamilton) was the big dawg for the Wildcats dropping 26 markers in the win.

Braxton Blackwell (CPA) continues to keep his name high on the national scene and the rising junior did nothing this past week to tarnish that image. Blackwell started the week with a slick 33 point effort against Spring Hill and saved his best work in a double overtime thriller victory against Southwind at the Penny Hardaway Hoop Fest that saw B-Squared drop 28 markers on the Memphis crew.

Thomas Booker (East Nashville) has found his groove. The rising junior had a big week scoring 26 in a win over White's Creek and adding a big 31 in a victory over Maplewood.

Khalil Spencer (Ridgeway) had himself a shining moment, despite a losing effort, as the rising senior shooting guard notched 38 points against Westview surpassing the previous Penny Hardaway Hoop Fest single game scoring record.
