Holiday State Scoring List…Happy New Year

One of our favorite features is back. Coaches have told me this is what they wait for each week. I have scoured the news sources from around the state and come up with the top scoring efforts. This has become increasingly harder as the local newspapers are no longer putting box scores in the paper. I could use your help if you find or know of anyone scoring over 25 points in a game, please let me know. I can be reached at andre@tnprephoops.com or @tnprephoops on twitter.

Trey Spencer (Montgomery Central) is a player not many know about in the Middle Tennessee area. The rising senior guard achieved a scoring milestone recently surpassing the 1,000 point mark for his career.

If you have followed this column you know the name K.J. Johnson (Marshall County). The rising junior guard is a staple on the scoring list and for his exploits he recently crossed the coveted 1,000 point barrier forever etching his name in Marshall County history. Johnson had games of 46 and 37 during the holidays.

The debate is on...who is the best team in Class AAA not named Memphis East. The Bulldogs of Bearden would like to submit their resume. The are currently unbeaten with a pair of junior guards both sporting D1 offers. Trent Stephney (Bearden) and Ques Glover (Bearden) both recently surpassed the 1,000 point mark for their careers.

Zach Lewis (Brighton) has had quite a nice career at Brighton HS. The rising senior is a scoring machine as evidence by his membership in the vaunted 1,000 point club.

Noah Hilliker (Cookeville) moved into rarified territory this holiday season. The rising senior guard forever carved his name into Cavalier history besting the 1,000 point mark for his career.

Last week we posted some serious words for rising senior post Brock Jancek (Knoxville Catholic). This week the 6'7 Jancek joined the 1,000 point club for the Irish.

Trevor Hensley (Unicoi County) became the all-time leading scorer for Unicoi County this past week passing Logan Lyle to etch his name into Blue Devil history. A storied hoops program in the Eastern portion of the state, Unicoi County now has a new king. Congrats Trevor.

Carson Cary (Columbia Academy) achieved a milestone over the holidays surpassing the 1,000 point barrier for his career.
