H3 Sports Rocky Top Fall League Begins with A Sonic Boom

The opening week of the H3 Sports Rocky Top High School Fall League was filled with pageantry, close games, an overtime and some players gearing up for a very successful high school campaign this year. Lets follow the action.

Team O'Hara 64

Team Arnold 59

Donovan Filer (Fulton) led a four pack of players with double digits as Team O'Hara came out victorious with a 64-59 win over Team Arnold to open the H3 Sports Rocky Top High School Fall League. Filer led Team O'Hara with 15 followed by Chase Ridenour (Knoxville Webb) with 12 and the duo of Myles Rasnick (Knoxville Webb) and Trey Davis (Fulton) with 11.

Connor Arnold (Grace Christian) tied for game high scoring honors with 15 while Quincy Sibley (Karns) added 13.

Team O'Hara (1-0) puts their unblemished mark on the line this Saturday at Concord Christian as they take on Team Carnes (0-1).

Team Arnold (0-1) looks to bounce back into the winners column as they welcome Team Sharp (1-0) this Saturday in West Knoxville.

Team Lane 65

Team Watts 60

E.J. Bush (Oak Ridge) scored 19 as Team Lane escaped late with a 65-60 win over Team Watts in one of the epic battles of the day. Taijon Jones (Oak Ridge) added 14 to the winning cause for Team Lane.

Luke Smith (Knoxville Catholic) led all scorers with 20 for Team Watts while Nick Rogers (Farragut) added 18 in the narrow loss. Davari Reeder (Knoxville Catholic) pitched in with 10.

Team Lane (1-0) welcomes a scrappy Team Morton (0-1) this Saturday at Concord Christian while Team Watts (0-1) looks to bounce back against Team Steinmetz (0-1).

Team Sharp 72

Team Upchurch 63

Quez Glover (Bearden) scored 20 points of inspired hoops as Team Sharp moved to 1-0 with a hard fought overtime classic against Team Upchurch. Kordell Kah (Bearden) and Roman Robinson (Bearden) scored 14 and 12 for the winners.

Calvin Keeble (Heritage) led Team Upchurch with 15 points followed by Easton Upchurch (Maryville) with 14 and rising sophomore Kolbe Billingsley (Sweetwater) with 10.

Team Sharp (1-0) puts their unbeaten streak on the line this Saturday at Concord Christian as they battle a determined Team Arnold (0-1). Team Upchurch (0-1) looks to bounce back into the winners column as they welcome Team Feltner (1-0).

Team Coward 72

Team Morton 65

Grant Ledford (Grace Christian) set the tone early and often. The rising sophomore dropped 17 points as Team Coward raced past an upset minded, but short handed Team Morton 72-65 in H3 Sports Rocky Top High School Fall League action. Shamarcus Brown (Bearden) added 14 in the win.

Mason Shelton (Dobyns-Bennett) led all scorers for the day with a 25 point effort but the sharp-shooting of rising senior Josh Releford (David Crockett) erased a 20 point margin and made this game close and tight. Releford finished with a cool 18 markers. Nate Jackson (Science Hill) pitched in with 11 points in the tough loss.

Team Coward (1-0) puts that glistening record on the line this Saturday at Concord Christian against fellow unbeaten Team Matthews (1-0). Team Morton (0-1) looks to be at full strength which could spell doom for Team Lane (1-0), we shall see.

Team Feltner 89

Team Carnes 46

Cameron Gregg (Jefferson County) led a barrage of double digit scorers with 20 as Team Feltner went hard and deep besting a very shorthanded Team Carnes 89-46. Rising freshman Tyler Nordin (Knoxville Webb) added 17 while Hunter Reynolds (CAK) and Darius Allen (Jefferson County) pitched in with 12 each and Justin Warner (Grainger) closed with 10.

Justin Barnett (Sevier County) led Team Carnes with 15 points while another rising freshman Micah Wilkinson (Pigeon Forge) added 12.

Team Feltner (1-0) looks to add to their win total this Saturday at Concord Christian, however; a determined Team Upchurch (0-1) wants to get on the right side of the ledger with a win themselves. Team Carnes (0-1) regroups and welcomes back a full squad as they tangle with Team O'Hara (1-0).

Team Matthews 71

Team Steinmetz 60

Brett Newcombe (Stone Memorial) scored 18 points as Team Matthews picked their opening game victory against a pesky Team Steinmetz 71-60 in the final game of the H3 Sports Rocky Top Fall League opening day.

Thomas Carroll (Wartburg Central) led Team Steinmetz with 18 markers in the tough loss. Tyshawn Young (Oak Ridge) and Maverick Smith (Oakdale) finished with 12 each.

Team Matthews (1-0) puts their gaudy mark on the line this Saturday at Concord Christian when they face fellow unbeaten Team Coward (1-0) while Team Steinmetz (0-1) looks to get on the winning side as they take on Team Watts (0-1).
