Week #4 had the games move over the hill to Cleveland State Community College and again player participation was lacking.....but those who did manage to show up played hard and tough.
Connecticut 104
Marquette 60
Hunter Chastain (Bradley Central) scored 24 points and C.J. Reese (McCallie) added 14 and a dozen assists as Connecticut moved their record to 3-1 with a 104-60 victory over a very shorthanded Marquette (1-3) squad.
Jamal Worthington (Bledsoe County) had a nice game finishing with 27 points for Marquette. Jeremiah Nason (Boyd Buchanan) added 11 points in the loss.
Vanderbilt 62
Auburn 56
Trey Suttles (Red Bank) managed 20 and Cole Birchfield (Georgia) pitched in with 18 as Vanderbilt remained unblemished at 4-0 with a hard fought 62-56 victory over improving Auburn.
Jamaal Calvin (McCallie) led all scorers with 23 as Auburn fell to 0-4. Preston Russell (Tellico Plains) added 18 in the loss.
Tennessee 76
Syracuse 70
D.J. Bowles (Cleveland) scored 27 points as Tennessee moved to 3-1 with a hard fought 76-70 victory over Syracuse (0-4). Bowles got plenty of scoring assistance in the form of Seth Shearman (Meigs County) who finished with 14 markers and Anfernee Scott (Cleveland) who added 10.
The Tennessee win offset an outstanding performance from Logan Brewer (Polk County) who lit it up from inside and outside with a season high 29 points. Justin Ragsdale (Silverdale Academy) added 19 in the close loss.
Alabama 87
Florida 84
Jervon Johnson (Ooltewah) got hot in the second half finishing with 26 points but the steady effort of Nick Scott (Georgia) lifted Alabama to 3-1 and an 87-84 victory over a tough Florida effort.
Scott, who would finish with a season high 23 points, was hot from the opening tap and kept hitting big buckets from deep down the stretch. Clay Heitzel (Notre Dame) also shot the ball well finishing with 14 points.
The strong team effort on both sides offset another outstanding scoring effort for Cordell James (McCallie) who finished with a game high 28 markers. Tevin Hudson (Cleveland) chipped in with 16, Darien Johnson (Bradley Central) added 13 and Logan Cox (Bradley Central) finished with 12.
Louisville 87
Villanova 77
Chris Green (East Ridge) scored 28 points raising Louisville to 3-1 and besting Villanova 87-77 in the final contest of the day.
Green, who should take over the league scoring lead with this effort, was outstanding especially on the offensive glass where majority of his points seem to accumulate.
Hayden Cherry (McMinn Central) also had an outstanding effort finishing with a season high 19 points on some fancy outside shooting. Jarod Rhodes (Cleveland) added 13 points in the win.
Kendrick Thompson (Cleveland) led Villanova (1-3) with 19 points. Terrence O'Donahue (McCallie) and Josh Coleman (Rhea County) both finished with 10 points apiece in a half games work for both.
