Fulton Brings Gold Ball Back to East Tennessee

With the score knotted at 54 all to close the third quarter all in attendance were ready for a fight to the finish with the final two participants in Class AA, Knoxville Fulton and Memphis Mitchell.

Mitchell proceeds to score 8 straight points right out of the chute and things looked bleak for the Falcons.

Coach Jody Wright took an important time-out to calm the nerves of his players and slow down the Tigers momentum. The stoppage did it's job and Fulton proceeded to outscore Mitchell 20-6 to close the game and capture the Class AA state championship in grandious style 74-68.

No shot was bigger than the deep three senior Dominique Minor drained to give Fulton the lead for good. The big man finished with 15 points and for his sustained effort throughout the tourney was named MVP.

Fulton was led by a balanced scoring attack headed by junior James Gallman who finished with 18 and did a great defensive job on Mitchell scoring machine Kenyan Torry. Sophomore Jalen Steele contributed 17 and senior Will Bryant was huge inside adding 14 points and a team high 5 boards.

Mitchell was led by Lewis McCaster with 24 points and 13 boards, the aforementioned Torry finished with 18.
