Not the best time of year to have your off night.
Fulton came out of the gates hard increasing their lead in every quarter and finishing off the Roadrunners from Austin East 77-49 in the 2AA regional final at Anderson County.
Fulton came out strong with senior Dominique Minor scoring early and helping the Falcons take the first stanza 12-6. The Roadrunners could not make shots and the trouble would only get worse.
Sophomore sensation Jalen Steele decided to put on a show in the second nailing a couple deep threes and Fulton widened the margin at the half to 32-20.
The second half would provide more of the same with junior James Gallman making hustle plays and senior pont man Shannon Hollingsworth making sure everyone was involved. Fulton increased the margin to 15 and was on the verge of another explosion.
Senior Will Bryant scored a few buckets inside and Steele continued his hot hand from the perimeter and the Falcons basically ran away with the game winning by 28.
Steele, who was named Region Tourney MVP, to go along with his similiar trophy from the district tournament, finished the contest with 22. Minor added 16, Gallman 13 and Bryant finished with 10.
Travai Pryor led Austin East with 10 points.
The win keeps Fulton in Knoxville for Monday's sub-state game and the Roadrunners will hit the road to play the winner of the Region 1AA tourney between Unicoi County and Rutledge.
