Once again I have scoured the newspapers, faxes, twitters and other forms of media that come to my attention compiling a list of the top scorers in the state for each week of the season.
If you know of some scoring exploits or a scoring milestone such as 1,000 point club or something of that nature please email me at andre@tnprephoops.com and I will get this added to the next week’s story.
If you know of someone who scored over 25 points and they did not make the list please let me know and I will add them to the following weeks list.
College coaches have told me this is one of their favorite features as it helps them get an understanding on the pulse of the new season.
I apologize for the delay but the weather created havoc at my house. Pipes froze and a nightmare ensued.
Taylor Hawkins (Sequoyah) forever etched his name in Sequoyah hoops folklore as the Carson Newman signee notched the 1,000 point of his career.
James McPherson (Brentwood) returned to action after the holiday break. His presence makes an already hard to beat Brentwood squad that much better. McPherson announced his return with a solid 25 against Centennial.
Justice Scott (Huntingdon) is piling up points in District 13A as evidence by his latest efforts which include a 36 point effort against Bruceton and an additional 29 point outburst against Gleason.
Zak Carter (Hardin Valley) has had a nice career in Knoxville. The rising senior forward pushed past the 1,500 point barrier this past week.
Braxton Blackwell (CPA) rarely appears on the scoring list. His team has a balanced attack but on occasion they slip past the 25 point barrier, Blackwell had a fine week scoring 25 against Marshall County and adding 24 against Cascade.
Nych Smith (White Station) is grabbing headlines with his efforts of the past couple of weeks. The rising junior was awesome scoring the game winner and notching 29 points in a win over nationally ranked Sunrise Christian.
Blaine Shockley (Hardin Valley) is lighting up the scoreboards around East Tennessee. After some high scoring outputs last week the rising junior continued his onslaught on the books dropping 32 against Lenoir City.
Derrick Spears (MTCS) is stating his case for a Mr. Basketball nomination in Class A. The rising senior was big last week dropping 39 against Fayetteville and adding 32 against Huntland.
