Final Four: Travelers 16’s Playing for the ‘Ship

Playing like a team.

What every coach strives for and what every successful squad does to win championships.

Getting youngsters to grasp this philosophy can sometimes be difficult.

At the 2008 Hoosier Shootout the 16 and under Tennessee Travelers have simply grasped this concept and as a result are headed to the final four.

Brandon Herman (Grace Baptist) is the unquestioned leader of the squad showing his scoring prowess and playing the tough defense that Coach Shane Williams demands. Herman is a scoring threat with the ball at all times and is playing with supreme confidence right now.

Team effort is in full effect with contributions from the likes of Fred Sturdivant (Brainerd), the lanky rising senior is blocking everything and improving his offensive game with each time on the floor. DeAngelo Williams (Spring Hill) is emerging as a must see player playing with confidence and skill on both ends of the floor. Devin Jackson (Knoxville West) is playing a better all around game according to onlookers and still has that deadly outside shot. Dwight Tarwater (Knoxville Webb) is the glue player making all the hustle plays and proving he can knock down the mid-range jumper to boot.

Tyler Hood (Lenoir City) is scoring in the low block with sic up and under and power moves and also showing his range with some daggers from deep. The team got an emotional lift with the presence of Robert Boyd (Fulton). The sparkplug from Fulton's state championship squad is doing the same with the Travelers excelling at the defensive end of the court and providing emotion and energy for the team.

Good luck today to the Travs.
