Father Ryan vs. Ensworth… A new champ for DII Class AA

A new champion will be crowned!!!!!!!!!

Father Ryan behind 19 points and 18 boards from Princeton bound Brendan Connolly (Father Ryan) defeated the defending state champions Briarcrest Christian 41 to 37 to set up a date with Ensworth in the state title game tomorrow evening. 

Connolly was unstoppable and the low scoring affair played right into the hands of the solid execution of the Father Ryan half court offense.

Leslie McDonald (Braircrest Christian) closed out his storied prep career with 21. 

In the other semi-final, Taverres Jefferson (Ensworth) slithered his way for 26 markers and helped lead Ensworth into the title game with a 74-70 win over ECS.

Jacob Carter (Ensworth) and Ricky Bowers (Ensworth) picked up the scoring slack with 13 and 12 respectively for Ensworth. 

Jonathan Milewski (ECS) led ECS with 20.  

 

In the DII Class A championship contest, Harding Academy behind 27 points and 12 caroms from Keilan Stittiams (Harding Academy) slipped by St. George's 59-57 to capture there second state crown in as many years. 

Georgia football signee Marlon Brown (Harding Academy) added 11in the win. 

Bobby Parks (St. George's) solified his spot as one of the best players in the state with his run through the tourney. He scorched the twine for 29 in the championship game loss but not before netting 34 in the semi-final win over Lausanne.

Will Martinez (Lausanne) also proved he is a player to contend with for the next couple of years dropping 41 of his own in this contest.
