East Tennessee Pyro Represent Strong at Battle of the South

Down Mississippi way The East Tennessee Pyro ventured South for some quality hoops action at the Battle of the South in Jackson.




Zy Moore (Meigs County) announced his presence with authority dropping 22 markers as the Pyro extinguished the Alabama Ice 66-42. Joe Pace (Lenoir City) had a big game dishing out 11 assists in the big win.

Moore kept his scoring high and mighty dangling 28 as the Pyro burned out the Bayou Flames to the tune of 66-53. Tee Higgins (Oak Ridge) and Trey Mitchell (Knoxville Central) scored 14 and 12 respectively in the win.

Pace managed another solid showing scoring 10 points and collecting 7 dimes.

Victim #3 the Biloxi Hiterz struck out to the tune of 80-59 as the Pyro unleashed Moore for 27 and Mitchell collected 17 in the win. Jacob Tufts (Lenoir City) had his best game of the tourney pouring in 13 markers.

The Louisiana Elite awaited the Pyro in the Elite 8. After falling down big early DeAndre Gibson (Oak Ridge) sparked a furious comeback but the deficit would prove to be too much as the Pyro fell 74-66.

Mitchell had another solid showing with a team high 17 and Cameron Harris (Meigs County) had a fine showing scoring 8 points but snatching 12 caroms in the loss.

Coaches were quick to applaud the efforts of Clay Campbell (Lenoir City), Jquan Thomas (Clinton) and Dallas Griffin (Campbell County).
