Special summer squads have been a staple of the Tennessee basketball landscape the past few seasons. A squad that comes together at the right times and defies all the basketball odds and makes serious noise on the circuit. Last season Team Nashville was the talk of the summer with their outstanding roster that featured eight division one signees. This year the Nashville D13 Elite became the team that all the pundits and coaches found themselves enthralled with.

The final two weeks of the July period found the D13 on a quest to close the summer with a bang....mission accomplished.

The Great American Shootout in Dallas got off to a rousing start with a 68-65 win over Texas Pro. Marcus Graves (North Carolina) led a balanced attack with 12 followed by Jake Allsmiller (CPA) and Braxton Bonds (CPA) with 11. Jaylen Barford (Jackson Southside) added 10.

Barford led the scoring with 18 as D13 Elite cruised past the Texas Elite 70-61. Daniel Norl (Kenwood) chipped in with 12 in the victory.

Jimario Rivers (Kenwood) led a very balanced attack with 14 as D13 Elite blasted the Oklahoma Phenoms 77-54. Keon Williams (Kentucky) added 10.

Quarter-Final action saw four players in double digits as D13 dumped the Texas Heroes 84-37. Barford led the scoring with 15 followed closely by Allsmiller and Graves with a dozen and Makinde London (Florida) with 10.

D13 Elite finished their Texas swing falling in the Elite 8 of the championship bracket 53-50 to the Texas Ambassadors. Norl led the scoring charge with 16.

The final weekend of the "live" period had D13 making their way to the desert for the adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas.

Cashing in on their Lone star state momentum, D13 Elite blasted the Minnesota Fury in their opening pool game 78-68 behind 15 from London. Allsmiller contributed 13 while Barford and Norl chipped in with a dozen each.

Victim #2 in pool action was an easy 75-47 triumph over FBC. Allsmiller went straight off dropping 21 markers. London and Barford added 11 while Graves chipped with 10.

Allsmiller continued his torrid shooting touch notching 15 as D13 finished 3-0 in pool play with a 61-33 blasting of the Ferris Saxons. Barford was the only other player in double digits with 10.

Barford came up big as bracket play got underway knocking down two foul shots late lifting D13 past Triple Threat 61-60. Barford finished with 17. London added 10 in the narrow escape.

Norl took scoring honors as D13 moved along besting the North Coast Express 75-61. Norl finished with 14 followed closely by Allsmiller with 13 and Barford with 12.

Barford took the lead with 17 but D13 would come up just short falling to the Compton Magic 88-83 in the final four of the Gold bracket. Graves and Norl finished with 15 each in the narrow loss.

D13 Elite finished their summer campaign sporting a gaudy 44-7 mark.
