Culbreath Leads Week #3 Tennessee Prep Hoops State Scoring List

nychsmith.jpg

Here is our weekly list of the top scoring performances in the state, separated by East, Middle and West Tennessee distinction. One of our favorite features as relayed to me by numerous college coaches of all levels.

This is also the forum to announce milestones including 1,000 point scoring efforts and such. Please let me know if we miss any of that information. You can email me at andre@tnprephoops.com.

My intent is to post this list every Monday or Tuesday throughout the season.

Keep a real close eye on this kid, Tyler Byrd (Notre Dame). The athletic junior is piling up some points including a solid which saw him drop 35 points against state tournament participant Boyd Buchanan and add another 25 spot later in the week against Silverdale Academy.

J'Honathan Smith (Waverly Central) is quietly adding to his point total for another surprising run from the Tigers of Waverly Central. Smith had a cool, clean 31 in a win over Dickson County.

LaGerald Vick (Douglass) is putting the finishing touches on a masterful senior season. The 6'5 shooting guard and SMU signee will attend prep school next season but until then his goal will be to lead the Red Devils into the state tournament and garner some accolades for himself come seasons end. Vick had a monster game against Carver this week piling up a 40 spot in a huge victory.

One of the best sophomores in East Tennessee is fresh off the gridiron and already sparking things on the hardwood. Cole Copeland (Bradley Central) welcomed himself to hoops scoring 25 against Walker Valley then closing the week with 24 against Knoxville Webb.

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) seems to be a mainstay on this list as the super senior point guard continues his sterling play this past week. Culbreath go things rolling with a 29 spot against Obion County and closed the frame with 28 additional against Crockett County. What will he do for an encore?

Trey Torres (Campbell County) had himself a super football season and has now made the seamless transition to the basketball floor. Torres had himself a solid week tallying 26 in a win over Knoxville Central and keeping his temp with a 23 spot in a win over Gibbs.

Bailey Lamb (Grainger) is content with being another in the long line of shooters from Rutledge. The rising senior had another solid week scoring 25 early in a win over Unaka and closing the week with a big 28 point effort in a one point win over Union County.

Trey Phifer (Big Sandy) is making scoreboards click over in West Tennessee with his scoring exploits. He started the week scoring 38 against Dresden and closed almost as strong netting 37 against Clarksburg.
