CPA Sets the Standard at the BlueCross Basketball Championships

CPA has asserted their muscle. The Lions completed step one
in their quest to repeat as Class AA state champions with a convincing 71-47
over Memphis Mitchell. Jalen Lindsey
(CPA)
made his presence felt early and often as the rising junior scored 23
points including a bevy of crowd pleasing dunks.


 


Assisting Lindsey in the scoring column was fellow classmate
Thomas Richard (CPA) with 15 markers
and the duo of Braxton Bonds (CPA) and
Jake Allsmiller (CPA)
each with 10.


 


Jeremiah Martin
(Mitchell)
led Mitchell with 17. Gavin
Robinson (Mitchell)
added 13 in the losing effort.


 


CPA will face Livingston
Academy
in the
semi-finals on Friday.

"Hog-Eye" was in full effect in the Class AA
opener as Livingston Academy got 24 points from senior guard Brock McCoin (Livingston
Academy)
and 18 apiece from Mason Ramsey (Livingston
Academy) and Wade Eldridge (Livingston Academy)
as they drifted past the
Eagles of Gibbs 76-50.

Gibbs with 18 points followed closely by Jay
Cade (Gibbs)

was a beast from the East...East Tennessee that is, as the 6'8
senior post player notched 19 points helping lead the Hustlin' Tigers of Howard
past East Nashville 59-43 in Class AA first
round action.


 


Terry Holt (East Nashville) led his squad with 15.


 


Howard will meet Jackson Southside in semi-final action on
Friday.

Malik Hicks (Jackson
Southside)
led a trio of Hawks in double digits to a hard fought 53-39
victory over Fulton
in first round Class AA action at the Blue Cross Basketball Championships. Hicks
received scoring support from the likes of Jaylen
Barford (Jackson Southside)
who chipped in with 12 and ETSU bound senior A.J. Merriweather (Jackson Southside) who
notched 10 including a pair of nasty dunks.


 


Sophomore wing Kelvin
Jackson (Fulton)
led all scorers with 17 points. Blake
Golden (Fulton)
pitched in with 12.

battle Howard in semi-final Class AA action on Friday.

scored 20 and 19 points
respectively leading Humboldt to a 65-47 victory over Mt. Pleasant
in Class A first round action.


 


Toby Frierson (Mt. Pleasant)
led his squad with 13 in the loss.


 


Humboldt will take on Wartburg Central in Class A semi-final

"The Franchise" Fountain (Wartburg Central)
parlayed a miserable
first half into a sterling second half effort scoring 26 points and snatching
13  caroms leading the Bulldogs to a
72-52 first round Class A triumph over Clarkrange.


 


Austin Langley
(Wartburg Central)
kept the Dawgs in the contest in the first half and finished
with 19 markers in the win. Brandon
Justus (Wartburg Central)
finished with 11.


 


Garrett Stults (Clarkrange)
kept the Buffaloes in the game with some timely shooting. The senior guard
finished with 22 points. Landon Baldwin
