The prelude to the annual Penny Hardaway Hoop Fest took place this past weekend in Memphis appropriately dubbed the Conway Services Bragging Rights Classic.

Action opened at MUS with two-time defending Class AA state champion CPA defeating Briarcrest 67-50 behind 19 markers from Georgia Southern signee Jake Allsmiller (CPA).

Braxton Blackwell (CPA) added 17 and Liberty signee Braxton Bonds (CPA) added 11.

Micah Thomas (Braircrest) led the Saints with 19 markers.

The win was the 33rd straight for the Lions as they move to 8-0 on the young season.

In the nightcap perennial national power Chicago Simeon slid past MUS 41-35 behind 13 points from rising junior guard Zach Norvell.

Bailey Buford (MUS) and Chris Galvin (MUS) led the Owls with 11 each.

The action moved to ChristianBrothersHigh School for day two action yet the change of venue had little effect on the Lions of CPA.

Blackwell dropped 27 points as CPA trounced Mitchell 82-47 moving their season mark to 9-0.

Alsmiller added 19 and Bonds chipped in with 13 in the win.

Khalil Spencer (Mitchell) had a nice outing scoring 27 in the loss.

Chicago Simeon again took care of business in the nightcap slipping past the host squad CBHS 54-35.

Brode McLaughlin (CBHS) led the Purple Wave with 13 in the loss.
