Connolly Impressive in DII State Tourney

Big players perform on the big stage.

Brendan Connolly (Father Ryan) made the most of his moment in the spotlight.

The 6'9 senior, who was a finialist for the Mr. Basketball award, had just completed a wonderful senior season and culminated this with a full scholarship to the Ivy League, Princeton to be exact.

What more does he need to do....let me show you.

Connolly was gigantic in leading the Irish past defending state champion Briarcrest Christian with 19 points and 18 boards.

In the title game he did all he could to keep the Irish close finishing with 18 markers and 16 caroms.

State tournament records as we can see are kept for both the DI and DII without differentiation. Thus in the DI tourney to get to the title game you must play three games unlike the DII where only two games brings you to the title game. With his average of 18 boards per game, Connolly would be right there in contention for the all-time state crown.

Just an interesting footnote.

Congrats to Brendan and good luck in the Ivy League.
