Friendship Christian overcame a late Perry County rally and held on for the school first Class A state championship with a 38-34 victory.

A very low scoring affair that saw the score posted as 18-12 at the half was punctuated with a very limited offensive output in the third with Friendship scoring only three points and the Vikings getting only four.

Mark Sandoval (Friendship Christian) garnered MVP honors with an 8 point, 9 rebound effort in the title game. Dalton Patterson (Friendship Christian) led the Commanders with 9 points in the title game victory. Allen Heaston (Friendship Christian) pitched in with 8 points in the win.

Cannon Rhodes (Perry County) led all scorers as the games lone double digit scorer with 11 markers.

Joining Sandoval on the All-Tournament glitter squad were Patterson, Heaston, Rhodes, Garrett Mullinicks (McEwen), Patrick Mullinicks (McEwen), Derrick Swift (Lake County), Ricky Boyd (Lake County), Jacob Tucker (Perry County) and Matt Gilboy (Perry County).

Martavious Newby (BTW) helped conclude the busy day of hoops gathering the Mr. Basketball award for Class A. Newby, an Ole Miss signee, was selected ahead of fellow nominees Alex "The Franchise" Fountain (Wartburg Central) and Rafeal Tyler (Lake County).
