Class AA Sub-State Preview

This is it!!!!!!

With state tourney berths on the line, lets see whats in store for fans around the state.

Knoxville Carter @ Union County

Union County can fill it up from deep and that could pose problems for this athletic Carter team. Tyler Vittetoe and Jacob Munsey can be deadly from the extra line while Tyler Smith seems to be more comfortable going to the bucket.  Carter will need exceptional efforts on the defensive side of the ball from their guards namely Landry Stanton, Braylen Bennett and Anthony Lewis. The question is can the Patriots do anything with the athletic prowess of sophomore Lester Wilson.

Unicoi County @ Knoxville Fulton

The Falcons are now playing like they have every intention of defending their Class AA state crown this season. Jalen Steele has kicked things up a notch and MTSU signee James Gallman was fabulous in the region final victory. Cameron Miller dropped 30 in the region finale and will need to be almost as productive against a defensive juggernaut like the Falcons.

Upperman @ Brainerd

The Bees of Upperman are coming into enemy territory on Monday night but have played some tough games against Livingston in the past week so they shouldnt be intimidated. At least until Fred Sturdivant rejects a few errant shots. Brainerd has remained steady throughout this season and will need a top defensive effort to stop the long range bombing from Upperman strokers like Dustin Baxter, Carrin nash and Ethan Christian.

Tyner Academy @ Livingston Academy

Down in Hog-Eye, Chase and the boys are prepared to make another run down I-40 to the 'boro. The Rams have played well during the playoffs and will use the size of junior Michael Bradley and the scoring of Jermel McKinnie and Damien Suttles to state their case. Chase Dunn is the unquestioned leader of this group and he will stop at nothing short of another trip to state. Should be a war!!!!!!!!

Harpeth @ Lipscomb

Defensively sound and battle tested, Lipscomb is prepared for this game in their own gym. A low scoring affair with plenty of defensive will be the order of the day and the expected showdown between two of the state best shooters in Trey Carruthers (Harpeth) and Carter Sanderson (Lipscomb) will be worth the price of admission. Look for Lipscomb senior Evan Webb to be huge in this one.

Marshall County @ Bolivar Central

This one could get very exciting. Super sophomore Kedren Johnson leads Marshall County into the Tigers den and few have ever escaped their unharmed. Chris Reaves, Des Crisp and Ricky Tisdale will provide hard match-ups for MC. Hunter Osborne will be huge in this game if he can open things up from outside and allow Johnson to penetrate and make things happen for his teammates.

Sheffield @ Covington

Who's playing better right now that Covington senior Derrick Walker. Underrated and able to score with the best of them, this could be his coming out party. Sheffield has quick guards with Chris and Montrell Crawford and will be bound and determined to bring their games to the mid-state.

Dyer County @ BTW

Why does it seem like these two play every year in this game, because they do!!! This time the Chochtaw must travel to Memphis. Larry McGaughey is quietly becoming one of the best players in West Tennessee and a grand opening celebration of his talent at state would serve him well. Dyer County has the backcourt to give BTW some fits and if C.J. Crittendon, Rex Pierce and freshman Fred Yarbrough do their thing it could be a masterpeice. This game has it all!!!!!!!!!!
