The rich continue to get richer.

Arguably the top player in the state scheduled a press conference for this afternoon to announce his college choice.

Alex Poythress (Northeast) ended one of those classic recruiting battles today with his announcement that he will attend the University of Kentucky.

Poythress, who is ranked as one of the top 20 players in the nation by every major service, chose the Cats over serious interest from Florida, Vanderbilt, Memphis and Duke.

A big time player who is a potential McDonald's All-American this season can now concentrate on his senior season at Northeast.

Poythress becomes the 10th player in the class of 2012 in Tennessee to commit and the third player to pledge for a school in the SEC, with Anthlon Bell earlier having chose Arkansas and Martavious Newby choosing Ole Miss.

Poythress, who played this summer with the Georgia Stars, made his mark in April but solidified his offers and garnered the big ones with his work in Orlando in July.

A superb young man who will represent our state well in the Commonwealth.
