Chattanooga Elite 17U Draws Crowds at Phenom Hoops Grassroots Tip-Off

Spanning the globe to bring you what's up in Tennessee hoops. This weekend was Phase II of the "Live"" period with teams and players gallivanting all over the country side to be seen by those important folks who control their future.

 

 

 

 

 

Phenom Hoops put on another outstanding event the Grassroots Tip-Off Classic in Greensboro and making some noise from the Volunteer state the 17U Chattanooga Elite.

The Elite finished the event 4-1 capturing the Silver Division Championship with a 60-42 Blasting of the Sharp Shooters Elite. Jorden Starling (McCallie) made his presence felt all weekend garnering new attention with his 16 point, 17 rebound classic in the title contest. Junior Clay (McCallie) added 13 and R. Mullek Bradford (Cleveland) added 11 in the win.

The Elite stumbled a bit early falling to NC Spartans East 58-57 despite 15 from Clay, 10 from Starling and finishing near double digits was Mac Hunt (McCallie).

Clay collected 15 markers and 7 dimes as the Elite crashed the Queen City Thunder 81-52 evening their record at 1-1. Hunt finished with 13 while Starling added 10.

Starling began his breakout process netting 19 points and 7 caroms as the Elite moved to 2-1 on the weekend with a forceful 61-46 dousing of the Mid-State Magic. Hunt added 12 points and 6 boards while Clay and Tripp Butler (McCallie) finished near double digits.

Bracket play began with Starling moving his stock up and up dropping 20 points and snatching 14 errant shots as the Elite startled the Durham Hurricanes 65-51. Butler added 10 markers while Hunt and Justin Dozier (East Hamilton) approached double digits.

Clay was named as one of the Breakout Performers of the weekend for Phenom Hoops while Starling was mentioned as one of the top post players at the event.
