Week #3 action at Alcoa saw two of the unbeaten teams fall, two overtime games and one game went to a last second shot for the win, a great day of action despite a number of players missing for the ACT test.

Anderson County 61

Team Kimber 45

Spencer Shoffner (Oak Ridge) got the message loud and clear as the rising senior took control finishing with 21 points and helping Anderson County raise their record to 2-1 with a 61-45 win over Team Kimber.

Challenged by his coach to be more aggressive going to the bucket, Shoffner proceeded to throw down a one-handed hammer on three unsuspecting defenders and followed that up with a sweet alley-oop off a dope pass from Cory Fagan (Oak Ridge).

Fagan added 10 in the win and the winning coach was quick to voice his approval of the play of 6'8 rising senior Jake Wright (Oneida), for his hustle and relentless effort on the boards and on defense.

Daijon McGill (Austin East) led Team Kimber (0-3) with 12 points.

Sevier County 84

Union County 61

Cody Malicoat (Jellico) made his PRTL debut scoring 23 points and dishing out a couple handfuls of assists leading Sevier County to a big 84-61 victory over Union County. The win moves Sevier County to 3-0 at the halfway point of the season.

Malicoat was joined in the scorebook by Tyler Chapman (Campbell County) who finished with 21 markers of his own.

Davis Soehn (Gatlinburg-Pittman) got his groove going nailing a few threes and finishing with 15 points in the win. John Lavin (Seymour) and Bobbo Chesser (Seymour) scored 13 and 12 respectively in the win.

Nick Litton (Campbell County) finished with 15 points for Union County (0-3), while Cory Poteet (Campbell County) added 13 in the loss.

Cumberland/Roane County 75

Team Lee 70

Four players achieved double figures as Cumberland/Roane County ran to their first victory of the season with a 75-70 overtime thriller against previously unbeaten Team Lee.

Cleveland Davidson (Rockwood) led the scoring brigade with 17 points followed closely by Alex Fountain (Wartburg Central) with 16. Brock Rowan (Stone Memorial) got his shot back finishing with 15 while teammate Robert "Gran" Troino (Stone Memorial) added 14.

Team Lee, who fell to 2-1, got an inspired performance from rising sophomore point guard Oteriah Lee (CAK), who would finish with a game high 27 points. Sam Greene (Bearden) added 14 in the overtime loss.

Team Naler 73

Blount County 71

Team Naler used a combination of team defense and some unselfish play to post their first win of the season with a close 73-71 victory over Blount County.

Tevin Gunn (Hardin Valley) dropped 22 points and renewed Kyle Anders (Knoxville Catholic) added 21 as Team Naler raised their season mark to 1-2. Micah Goss (Hardin Valley) and Sabian Smith (Knoxville Central) both added 10 in the victory.

Blount County, who fell to 1-2, had a possession at the buzzer for the victory but couldn't get the shot to fall. Matt Shown (Alcoa) old-schooled his way to 20 big points and Gabe Dando (Alcoa) had another outstanding game finishing with 18 markers.

Tri-Cities 82

Team Jackson 79

In the most interesting outcome of the day, the undermanned Tri-Cities squad outlasted previously unblemished Team Jackson in overtime 82-79.

Playing with only five players, Tri-Cities hung around and took advantage of poor foul shooting to tie the game and snatch and hold the lead in the extra session. Ryan Gaiter (Daniel Boone) was the man notching 27 points and leading a scoring brigade which included Justin Brown (Virginia) with 21 and Jaren Stewart (Cocke County) finished with 20.

Carson Brooks (Knoxville West) was simply outstanding for Team Jackson finishing with a league high 31 points and grabbing a dozen or so caroms. Calvin Walker (Knoxville West) had another solid game finishing with 22 points on the day. Brandon Crabtree (Scott) added 10 in the loss.

Team Nabors 74

Team Williams 51

In the final game of the day, Team Nabors stayed among the ranks of the unbeaten with a nifty 74-51 victory over Team Williams.

Burton "Big Money" Sampson (Knoxville Webb) and Devin Sibley (Karns) both led the scoring with 17 apiece for Team Nabors.

Blake Williams (Farragut) led the scoring for Team Williams with 13 points, Jordan Belvin (Loudon) and Matt Holland (Grace Christian) added 10 each in the loss.
