Briarcrest and Bearden Head Into Semi-Final Action at the Arby’s Classic

Could it be an all Tennessee final?

That will have to be determined this evening as Knoxville Bearden takes on Miller Grove (Ga.) and Briarcrest Christian battles a very good Boyd Anderson (Fl.) squad.

 

Quarterfinal Results:

 

Miller Grove (Ga.) 62

Tennessee High 58

Corey Young (Tennessee) and Mason Canty (Tennessee) scored 15 and 14 respectively but fell just short of a major upset falling to a very good Miller Grove (Ga.) squad led by Georgia Tech signee Mfon Udofia, who finished with 25.

 

Bearden 57

Monsignor Pace (Fl.) 54

Holding a double digit lead the Bulldogs held off the hard charging Sunshine State crew to eek out a 57-54 victory. Demonte Simpson (Bearden) led the Dogs with 13, while Blake Jenkins (Bearden) and Gabe Campbell (Bearden) added 12 and 10 respectively.

 

Briarcrest Christian 42

Benedictine (Oh.) 40

North Carolina signee Leslie McDonald (Briarcrest Christian) scored 17 and led the Saints to the narrow victory. For their troubles BC draws Boyd Anderson one of the top rated teams in Florida in their semi-final match-up this evening. Johnny Williams (Briarcrest Christian) added 11 for the winners.

 

Other games of note:

In a battle that will certainly not be last among these two rivals Dobyns Bennett squeaked past Science Hill 73-70 in colsolation play. Ashlon Adams (Dobyns Bennett) was gigantic in this one scoring 29 points against his former school and leading the Indians to victory. Dustin McConnell (Dobyns Bennett) added 23 in the win.

Chattanooga signee Josh Odom (Science Hill) dropped 23 for the Hilltoppers in defeat.
