Our selections for the East, Middle and West Tennessee games of the week could not have brought us better basketball games had we set them up for ourselves.
In West Tennessee the slugfest between Ridgeway and Southwind was detailed in the story dedicated to the game, which I was able to attend last Thursday.
Brentwood 47
Ravenwood 45
In Middle Tennessee, Jack "The Natural" Montague (Brentwood) scored a driving lay-up at the buzzer as the Bruins moved to 5-0 in District 11AAA with a narrow 47-45 victory over rival Ravenwood.
Asa Duvall (Brentwood) led in scoring with 13 points while Montague chipped in with 11. The win moves Brentwood to 18-4 on the season and right on the cusp of the state rankings.
Devin Robinson (Ravenwood) had a nice game for the Raptors; the senior guard did his best scoring 24 points in the narrow loss.
Andy Moore (Ravenwood) added 10 points.
Karns 68
Oak Ridge 57
Shaquille Cantrell (Karns) and Devin Sibley (Ravenwood) each dropped 17 points as the Beavers avenged a loss to Powell earlier in the week and atoned for a loss to the Wildcats earlier in the season with a 68-57 victory.
Karns moves to 17-2 on the season and in a virtual deadlock in District 3AAA.
Isaac Merion (Oak Ridge) led the Wildcats with 14 points, Spencer Shoffner (Oak Ridge) pitched in with 12 markers in the loss.
