Bluff City Lands Prestigious Spot at 2012 Peach Jam

With Session #4 in the books the Nike EYBL is getting prepared for their culmination event the prestigious Peach Jam in Augusta, Georgia during the live period in July.

After a slow start the Bluff City Legends made the most of their final weekend in Oakland finishing 5-1 and drawing a wildcard for inclusion to the Peach Jam event.

Bluff City finished 11-9 during the daunting EYBL season but finished very strong in the final two sessions, Minneapolis and Oakland.

In Oakland Bluff City started with a 68-53 win over the Jackson Tigers. Nick King (Memphis East) made his presence felt early notching 22 markers. He was joined in the scoring column by JuJuan Johnson (Southwind) with 10.

The New Jersey Playaz received the wrath of the Bluff City in Game #2 with a 56-47 win. Johnson and Jonathan Williams III (Southwind) led the scoring with 12 points each. Williams added 11 boards to the cause. King finished with a double/double of 11 points and 10 caroms.

King went for 19 as the Legends moved to 3-0 in Oakland with a 62-59 victory over the Family out of Michigan. Johnson added 11 in the winning cause.

King again exploded for 22 as Bluff City managed their fourth win of the Session with a 62-57 drubbing of Athletes First. Johnson finished with 14 while Williams added 10 in the win.

Indy Spiece put the damper on the perfect weekend with a 67-64 defeat. King was a monster scoring 26 and snatching 11 boards. Davell Roby (White Station) added 11 in the loss.

Bluff City scored a forfeit victory in their final contest to finish the Session at 5-1 and capture their illustrious invitation to one of the best events of the entire summer.

 

The Tennessee Travelers closed out the EYBL campaign with a nice 69-55 win over All Iowa Attack. Burton "Big Money" Sampson (Knoxville Webb) led the scoring with 19 markers. Jack Whitman (Kentucky) finished with 15 in the victory.

The Travelers battled hard but depth would eventually take over as all their games were decided by narrow margins in this final session in Oakland.

Whitman notched 18 as the Travelers fell to Boo Williams 65-52.

Devin Sibley (Karns) took scoring honors with 15 as the Travs fell to Southern Stampede 67-57.

Whitman led with 12 and rising junior Rob Marberry (FRA) added 11 points in a 54-48 narrow loss to Baltimore Elite.

Marberry added a double/double with 12 points and 11 caroms as the Travelers narrowly fell to Houston Hoops 67-60. Whitman led the scoring with 19 while Brock Rowan (Stone Memorial) finished with 12.

Miles Rice (Kentucky) took scoring honors with 12 as the Travelers fell to the powerful Howard Pulley bunch 53-49.
