Is this not the best time of the year? My travels took me to Morristown East for the Region 1AAA semi-finals.
Daniel Boone received 19 points from junior guard Travis Keever (Daniel Boone) and 18 more from senior sharpshooter Jordan Gray (Daniel Boone) lifting the Blazers to a 66-62 victory over Science Hill in the first of two semi-final games played at Morristown East.
A back and forth affair throughout the fourth quarter saw The Hill close the gap before Keever's foul shots iced the game late.
Jaylen Allen (Science Hill) led the Hilltoppers with 19 and freshman Shannon Hale (Science Hill) added 18.
In the second contest Dobyns-Bennett overcame a furious Sevier County rally in the fourth to pull away from the Smokey Bears and set up their region final date with Daniel Boone winning 54-48.
Adam Dennison (Dobyns-Bennett) led his squad with 16 while Darius Davis (Dobyns-Bennett) and Jewon Johnson (Dobyns-Bennett) both chipped in with 14.
Sevier County overcame an 18 point deficit with a sic 15-0 run in the fourth. Austin Nave (Sevier County) led the Bears with 17.
