Birmingham Feels the Wrath of the Memphis Select

Over in North Carolina the Memphis Magic Elite made some noise winning the Select division of the 17 and under.

In Los Angeles, the Memphis YOMCA made huge strides as they get ready for July action.

In Birmingham, the Memphis Select created quite the stir advancing to the semi-final round before running out of gas against the powerful MBA Elite at the Future 150 Memorial Day Classic.

Cedric McAfee (Melrose) proved his Top 50 ranking may be too low as he averaged a gaudy 27 points per game including 20 in the semi-final loss.

Octavious Ellis (Whitehaven) added 14 in the loss, while John Hudson (Dyer County) finished with 12.

The Select rolled through the early competition crowning the South Georgia Kings 85-65, jacking the Jackson Celtics 78-63 and clashing the Georgia Titans 70-60 behind the improved inside work of rising seniors Ellis and McCoy Polk (Overton).

Hudson had the hot hand from the outside along with Robert Houston (Craigmont), who busted 5 three's in one of the early victories.

Demarc Richardson (Braircrest Christian) had a fine tournament averaging 15 points per game for the Select and Darious Paige (Southwind) played set up man for the whole bunch of the scoring brigade.
