Big things were happening this past weekend at CPA for the tip off of the Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League. Despite a major uniform crisis the show went on as planned and the action was blazing. Here are the results.
Vanderbilt 91
Tennessee 78
Trevor Randolph (Goodpasture) recorded 26 markers as Vanderbilt go the ball rolling with a 91-78 victory over Eastern Division for Tennessee. Four others joined Randolph among the ranks of the double-digit including Caleb Hollander (Home School) with 16, Christian Lynn (Goodpasture) with 13, Omar Lyons (Siegel) with 11 and Micah Davis (CPA) with a cool 10.
Tennessee also managed five players in double digits led by Jacob McCullough (Hendersonville) with 18. Braxton Bonds (CPA), Hunter Vick (Camden Central) and Tyler McWilliams (Upperman) each added 11 in the tough loss. Blake Taylor (Brentwood Academy) pitched in with 10.
Vanderbilt puts their 1-0 on the line this Saturday against Kentucky at 11:00 while Tennessee looks to rebound against 1-0 Clemson.
Clemson 89
Duke 61
Jalen "Sir" Duke (MLK) notched 22 markers as Clemson used an early 18-0 run to get by Duke 89-61. Jacob Saunders (Cheatham County) had another fine game scoring 18 while Kin Webster (Hillsboro) finished with 17. Devin Pitts (Antioch) had himself a nice game notching 15 in the big win.
Ross Plunkett (Creek Wood) led Duke with 14 followed closely by Jalen Hunter (Goodpasture) with 13. Jake Allsmiller (CPA) and Derrick Spears (MTCS) dropped 9 each in the loss.
Clemson puts its unblemished 1-0 mark on the line this Saturday against 0-1 Tennessee while Duke faced a formidable challenge against 1-0 Georgia Tech.
Florida 63
Kentucky 54
Daniel Norl (Kenwood) and Jimario Rivers (Kenwood) scored 14 and 13 respectively as Florida weathered a Kentucky storm besting their Eastern Division brethren 63-54.
Jeremiah Oatsvall (Brentwood Academy), only a freshman, took game high scoring honors with 20 large. Phillip Johnson (Hendersonville) added 10 in the loss.
Austin Kirby (Station Camp) pitched in with 10 for the victors.
Florida will put its 1-0 mark to the test this Saturday against 1-0 LSU AT 10:00 while Kentucky looks to rebound from their loss by challenging 1-0 Vanderbilt.
Georgia Tech 93
North Carolina 86
In what would prove to be the best game if the day, Georgia Tech rode the high scoring antics of Rob Marberry (FRA) and Grant Teichmann (Brentwood) to a hard fought 93-86 victory over North Carolina.
Marberry, who finished with 26, and Teichmann, who ended with 24, needed every point to offset the scoring from North Carolina's Matt Hailey (Ravenwood), who finished with a league high 27 points.
Hailey was visited in the scoring column by Ross Cummings (Creek Wood) who had an outstanding game finishing with 21 markers.
Isaiah Blacksmith (East Nashville) contributed 11 in the win.
Georgia Tech will face Duke in action this Saturday at CPA while North Carolina looks to get back to the winning track against WakeForest to open things up this coming Saturday.
LSU 80
Wake Forest 64
Braxton Blackwell (CPA) led all scorers with 20 as LSU defeated WakeForest 80-64 in the final contest of the day at the Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League at CPA.
Coulter Dotson (Creek Wood) played very well notching 16 markers in the victory.
Thomas Bautista (Brentwood) and Chase Hawkins (Ravenwood) scored 15 and 13 respectively for WakeForest.
LSU puts its clean record on the line against 1-0 Florida this coming Saturday at CPA while WakeForest looks to get on the right side of the ledger when they take on North Carolina in a battle of Western division foes.
