“Best in State” 17 and Under Results

jalenbarford.jpg"Best in State" was our title and the kids didn't disappoint as a solid crowd and a bevy of college coaches ascended upon StoneMemorialHigh School for the inaugural Tennessee Prep Hoops Best in State event this past Saturday.

 

Two divisions, the 17 and under and the 16/15 and under each played 3 games and tuned themselves up for the big July live period which begins this Wednesday at stops all around the country.

 

In the 17 and under division:

 

Tennessee Chosen Few 70

Tennessee Panthers 66

 

Zac Carter (Hardin Valley) dropped 16 markers as the Chosen Few held off a surging Panther squad 70-66 in the opening contest of the "Best in State". Joining Carter in the scorebooks was Devin Sibley (Karns) with 11. Jacob McCullough (Hendersonville) led all scorers with 19 followed closely by Terry Holt (East Nashville) with 18 for the Panthers.

 

Nashville D13 Elite 81

Team Nashville 64

 

Four players notched double digits as Nashville D13 Elite slid past Team Nashville 81-64 behind 18 markers from Jaylen Barford (Jackson Southside). Assisiting Barford in the score book were Keon Williams (Kentucky) with 16, Braxton Bonds (CPA) with 12 and Daniel Norl (Kenwood) with 10.

Team Nashville also placed four in double digits led by Jacob Williams (Wilson Central) with 16, Jacob Saunders (Cheatham County) added 13, Charles Clark (Siegel) finished with 11 and Kyle Oliver (Oakland) added 10.

 

Tennessee Velocity 76

Tennessee Panthers 44

 

Ben Snider (Ooltewah) dropped 19 points as the Tennessee Velocity strode past the Tennessee Panthers 76-44. Levi Woods (Meigs County) and Isaac Edmiston (Maryville) chipped in with 14 and 13 respectively for the Velocity.

 Terry Holt (East Nashville) tied for game high scoring honors with 19 in the loss. Jacob McCullough (Hendersonville) added 14.

 

Nashville D13 Elite 93

Chattanooga Elite 66

 

Jake Allsmiller (CPA) busted five threes and finished with 20 points as Nashville D13 Elite moved to 2-0 on the day besting the Chattanooga Elite 93-66. Joining the scoring brigade Marcus Graves (North Carolina) finished with 15 and Jaylen Barford (Jackson Southside) added 11.

Sadik Spence (Tyner Academy) led Chattanooga with 17 followed by Orlando Moore (Brainerd) and Alex Watkins (Tyner Academy) who both finished with 12.

 

Tennessee Chosen Few 75

Team Nashville 63

 

Trayvon Fields (Virginia) led a group of four in double digits with 14 as the Tennessee Chosen Few won their second game of the day besting Team Nashville 75-63. Devin Sibley (Karns) and Tyler Yoder (Stone Memorial) chipped in with 13 apiece and Andre Wilson (Austin East) finished with 10 in the victory.

Jacob Williams (Wilson Central) led a very balanced scoring attack with 15 points for Team Nashville. James McPherson (Brentwood) added 14 and Jacob Saunders (Cheatham County), Ladarious Chester (Melrose) and Charles Clark (Siegel) all finished with 11 points.

 

Nashville D13 Elite 66

Tennessee Velocity 57

 

In a low scoring affair, Jaylen Barford (Jackson Southside) finished with 11 points as Nashville D13 Elite finished the day 3-0 with a hard fought 66-57 win over the Tennessee Velocity. Isaac Edmiston (Maryville) led alls corers with 16 in the loss. Ben Snider (Ooltewah) added 10.

 

Tennessee Chosen Few 76

Chattanooga Elite 55

 

Justin Simmons (Stone Memorial) dropped 21 points as the Tennessee Chosen Few closed the day unbeaten with a 76-55 win over the Chattanooga Elite. Devin Sibley (Karns) added 17 in the win while Tyler Yoder (Stone Memorial) chipped in with 10.

Orlando Moore (Brainerd) led all scorers with 22 markers for Chattanooga. Kendrick Thompson (Cleveland) and Jaylen Smith (Georgia) chipped in with each in the loss.

 

Team Nashville 65

Tennessee Panthers 50

 

Charles Clark (Siegel) flew out of the gates netting 22 markers as Team Nashville got on the right side of the victory ledger besting the Tennessee Panthers 65-50. Ladarious Chester (Melrose) added 15 while a pair of Jacobs, Jacob Williams (Wilson Central) and Jacob Saunders (Cheatham County) added 10 each.

Jacob McCullough (Hendersonville) led the Panthers with 10 points.

 

Chattanooga Elite 63

Tennessee Velocity 51

 

Orlando Moore (Brainerd) and Kendrick Thompson (Cleveland) scored 18 and 16 respectively as the Chattanooga Elite notched their first victory in the final game of the day with a 63-51 win over the Tennessee Velocity.

Isaac Merian (Oak Ridge) did his best scoring 19 but it wasn't enough for the Velocity.
