“Best in State” 16/15 and Under Results

 "Best in State" was our title and the kids didn't disappoint as a solid crowd and a bevy of college coaches ascended upon StoneMemorialHigh School for the inaugural Tennessee Prep Hoops Best in State event this past Saturday.

Two divisions, the 17 and under and the 16/15 and under each played 3 games and tuned themselves up for the big July live period which begins this Wednesday at stops all around the country.

In the 16 and under division:

 

Tennessee Chosen Few (16) 67

Team Nashville (16) 53

 

Jacquez Bruce (South Doyle) dropped 18 as the Tennessee Chosen Few 16 and under group pushed past Team Nashville 16's 67-53 in the opening game of the Tennessee Prep Hoops "Best in State" event this past Saturday at Stone Memorial. Four players notched double digits joining Bruce including Brady Nease (Union County) with 16, Jordan Bowden (Carter) with 13 and Kordell Henderson (White County) with 12.

Kyle Oliver (Oakland) led all scorers with 19 in the close loss. Kevonta Davis (Hillsboro) added 15 for Team Nashville.

 

Tennessee Bobcats (16) 60

Team Nashville (15) 52

 

John Fulkerson (Dobyns-Bennett) led a balanced Bobcat scoring attack with 17 leading his squad to a 60-52 win over a stout 15 and under Team Nashville bunch. John Bryant (Jefferson County) chipped in with 12 for the Bobcats.

Nick Hopkins (Fayetteville) led Team Nashville with 11 in the close loss.

 

Nashville Celtics (15) 71

Tennessee Panthers (15) 53

 

Caleb Hollander (Homeschool) and Javaughn Craig (McCallie) scored 17 and 15 respectively as the nashville Celtics 15 and under group bested the shorthanded Tennessee Panthers 71-53. Ross Cummings (Creek Wood) added 11 in the victory.

Austin Douglas (Cheatham County) and Austin Kirby (Station Camp) each scored 19 for the Panthers. Marquis Davis (LaVergne) added 10.

 

Tennessee Chosen Few (16) 65

Tennessee Bobcats (16) 45

 

Kordell Henderson (White County) dangled 19 markers as the Tennessee Chosen Few 16 and under group moved to 2-0 on the day with a 65-45 win over the Tennessee Bobcats. Joining Henderson in scoring column were Jacquez Bruce (South Doyle) with 12 and Jordan Bowden (Carter) with 10.

Makale Foreman (Dobyns-Bennett) led the Bobcats with 13 followed by Jacob Cawood (Midway) with 10.

 

Team Nashville (16) 59

Tennessee Panthers (15) 45

 

Kyle Oliver (Oakland) led all scorers with 21 points as Team Nashville 16 and under group notched their first victory of the day with a 59-45 win over a shorthanded Tennessee Panthers 15 and under group. Jordan Sandifer (Pearl Cohn) notched 10 points for the winners.

Austin Douglas (Cheatham County) led the Panthers with 17 markers.

 

Nashville Celtics (15) 77

Team Nashville (15) 68

 

In what would prove to be one of the best played and most competitive games of the tournament, Kenny Cooper (FRA) scored a tournament high 25 points as the Nashville Celtics 15 and under group slipped by Team Nashville 77-68. Caleb Hollander (Homeschool) added 18 and Thomas Booker (East Nashville) finished with 14.

Nick Hopkins (Fayetteville) finished with 20 including six threes. Jordan Bone (Ensworth) added 14 and Yalen Reed (Lebanon) finished with 12.

 

Tennessee Bobcats (16) 74

Team Nashville (16) 66

 

John Bryant (Jefferson County) and Jacob Cawood (Midway) scored 16 points each as the Tennessee Bobcats moved to 2-1 on the day with a hard fought 74-66 win over Team Nashville. John Fulkerson (Dobyns-Bennett) added 12 in the win.

Grant Teichmann (Brentwood) led Team Nashville with 17 followed closely by Leon Howard (Nashville Overton) with 16, Kyle Oliver (Oakland) with 14 and Jordan Sandifer (Pearl Cohn) with 13.

 

Tennessee Chosen Few (16) 65

Nashville Celtics (15) 52

 

Jordan Bowden (Carter) dropped 19 points as the Tennessee Chosen Few completed a 3-0 day besting the Nashville Celtics 15 and under group 65-52. Brady Nease (Union County) added 14 while Jacquez Bruce (South Doyle) finished with 13 in the win.

Gage Upshaw (Baylor) led the Celtics, who defeated both of their 15 and under opponents, with 11. Jordan Wilson (MBA) added 10 for the Celtics.

 

Team Nashville (15) 77

Tennessee Panthers (15) 58

 

Clayton Hughes (USJ) scored 16 points as Team Nashville 15 and under crew closed out the tournament with a solid 77-58 win over the shorthanded Tennessee Panthers. Jordan Bone (Ensworth) added 10 for the victors.

Austin Kirby (Station Camp) led the Panthers with 15 followed closely by Austin Douglas (Cheatham County) with 14.
