Week #2 action at Knoxville Catholic saw some great action as the teams round themselves into shape for the season stretch.
Team Williams 61
Union County 58
Blake Williams (Farragut) dropped a game high 15 markers as Team Williams outlasted a scrappy Union County bunch 61-58 in the opening game of Week #2 at the Pilot Rocky Top High School Fall League moving their season record to 1-1.
Joining Williams in the scoring column were high school mate Preston Spaulding (Farragut) with 10 and newcomer Omar Watson (Alcoa) who chipped in with 9 points.
Stetson Moore (Knoxville Halls) led Union County (0-2) with 12 points, while newcomer Sherrius Smith (Hardin Valley) added 11 in the tough loss.
Team Lee 67
Team Kimber 56
Team Lee moved their season mark to 2-0 with a tough 67-56 victory over Team Kimber. Drew Standifer (Bearden) was a man among boys finishing with 15 points in the win.
Sam Greene (Bearden) added 12 points in the win and Oterriah Lee (CAK) finished with 9 markers in the win.
Daijon McGill (Austin East) made his league debut scoring a team high 13 points for Team Kimber, who fell to 0-2 on the young season. Isaac Merion (Oak Ridge) and Jeromy Hill (Fulton) added 10 points each in the loss.
Team Nabors 49
Blount County 47
Two of the leagues top squads faced off for an early season showdown and Team Nabors with the definition of balanced scoring scored the 49-47 victory over a very good Blount County squad.
Chad Nabors (Knoxville Webb) was the lone member of the double digit club but his teammates played together and moved their season record to 2-0. Isaiah Hicks (Bearden) finished with 9 points in the tough victory.
Matt Shown (Alcoa) took a pop to the eye but the Blount County strongman was simply a beast on the court finishing with a game high 20 points in the very close loss. Blount County drops to 1-1.
Tri-Cities 67
Cumberland/Roane County 64
Jaren Stewart (Cocke County) scored a game high 17 points as the defending league champions Tri-Cities gathered their first win with a 67-64 edging of the Cumberland/Roane County squad.
Stewart was assisted in the scorebook by Zach Howard (Science Hill), who added 12 and Ryan Gaither (Daniel Boone) who added 10 in the win. The victory moves Tri-Cities to 1-1 on the young season.
Cleveland Davidson (Rockwood) led the Cumberland/Roane squad with 12 points, Xavier Howard (Harriman) and Brock Rowan (Stone Memorial) added 10 points each in the tough loss.
Sevier County 64
Team Naler 54
Andy Barnett (Pigeon Forge) continues to light up the scoreboard with his long range shooting, the rising senior dropped 19 points and helped lead his Sevier County bunch to a 64-54 win over Team Naler.
The victory moves Sevier County to 2-0 in league play. Barnett led a plethora of big scoring efforts for Sevier County with John Lavin (Seymour) adding 13, Peyton Lee (Seymour) and Brandon Stewart (Gatlinburg-Pittman) chipped in with 11 points each and Davis Soehn (Gatlinburg-Pittman) adding a 10 spot.
Tevin Gunn (Hardin Valley) finished with 13 points for Team Naler while Sabian Smith (Knoxville Central) added 10 in the loss.
Team Jackson 66
Anderson County 64
Another big battle among two of the leagues top squads, Team Jackson outlasted a huge Anderson County comeback and survived 66-64 in the day's final contest. The win moves Team Jackson to 2-0.
Brandon Crabtree (Scott) was big for Team Jackson scoring a game high 20 points while the Knoxville West trio of Calvin Walker (Knoxville West), Carson Brooks (Knoxville West) and Osmond Robinson (Knoxville West) scored 17, 12 and 10 respectively in the victory.
Cory Fagan (Oak Ridge) led Anderson County with 17 markers he was followed closely by Tyler King (Scott) with 16 points. Spencer Shoffner (Oak Ridge) added 11 in the tough loss.
