Week #4 action at Knoxville Catholic saw a last second shot keep a team unbeaten, a big win for one squad and some close action as the teams come down the stretch for our championships in two weeks at Maryville College.
Team Jackson 76
Team Lee 61
Calvin Walker (Knoxville West) took matters into his own hands scoring 31 points and leading Team Jackson to 76-61 victory over Team Lee.
Walker, who helped Team Jackson move to 3-1 on the season, was outstanding scoring off the dribble and moving aggressively to the bucket. He was joined in the scoring column by Kaseem Davidson (Oak Ridge) with 15 markers and Carson Brooks (Knoxville West) and Osmond Robinson (Knoxville West) who both finished with 10 points.
Sam Greene (Bearden) had a nice game for Team Lee in the loss finishing with 24 points. The loss drops Team Lee to 2-2. Drew Standifer (Bearden) pitched in with 19 points and Oteriah Lee (CAK) added 11.
Team Jackson moves into a first place tie with Anderson County but has the tiebreaker in their favor with one more regular season game on the docket.
Blount County 88
Team Williams 49
Matt Shown (Alcoa) and Gabe Dando (Alcoa) scored 23 and 20 points respectively leading Blount County to an impressive 88-49 win over Team Williams.
The win moves Blount County to 2-2 with a big game against unbeaten Sevier County this coming week at Oak Ridge.
Adrian Page (Maryville) and Matt Connatser (William Blount) contributed 12 and 10 points in the victory for Blount County.
Blake Williams (Farragut) led Team Williams with 13 markers. Adarius Wilson (Grace Christian) and Omar Watson (Alcoa) chipped in with 11 and 10 in the loss.
Team Kimber 71
Cumberland/Roane County 66
Dejon McGill (Austin East) led a group of four double digit scorers pushing Team Kimber to their first win of the season with a 71-66 victory over Cumberland/Roane County.
McGill, who would finish with 15 markers, played well down the stretch along with his high school teammate Imani Miller (Austin East), who finished with 14 points in the win.
Isaac Merion (Oak Ridge) and Zak Carter (Hardin Valley) concluded the scoring with 12 and 10 points respectively in the big win.
Alex Fountain (Wartburg Central) was high man for Cumberland/Roane scoring a game high 18 points. He was assisted in the scoring column by Brock Rowan (Stone Memorial) with 12.
Sevier County 59
Team Nabors 56
Andy Barnett (Pigeon Forge) nailed a buzzer beater from the bent line keeping Sevier County (4-0) unblemished with a 59-56 victory over a tough Team Nabors (3-1) squad in what onlookers said was the best game of the day.
Barnett, who finshed with 17 points, drained his shot with 1.4 seconds remaining on the clock lifting Sevier County into a virtual lock for a spot in the championship game next Sunday at Maryville College.
Cody Malicoat (Jellico) played another outstanding game scoring a game high 23 points for the victors.
Devin Sibley (Karns) led Team Nabors with 16 points followed closely by Hunter Spaw (Grainger) with 15. Burton "Big Money" Sampson (Knoxville Webb) added 11 in the tough loss.
Anderson County 70
Tri-Cities 50
Cory Fagan (Oak Ridge) led four teammates in double digits with 18 as Anderson County spiked their record to 3-1 with a 70-50 victory over Tri-Cities.
Spencer Shoffner (Oak Ridge) tallied 14 while the duo of Ross Cannon (Anderson County) and Ethan Hayes (Anderson County) finished with 10 points apiece in the big victory.
Zach Howard (Science Hill) led Tri-Cities, who fell to 2-2, with 12 points. Ryan Gaiter (Daniel Boone) added 10 in the loss.
Union County 57
Team Naler 54
Saving the best for last, could have been more than applicable in this instance as Stetson Moore (Knoxville Halls) and Corey Poteet (Campbell County) drained key foul shots in the extra session leading Union County to their first win of the season a 57-54 overtime thriller against Team Naler.
Steven Parsons (Powell) led Union County with 14 points while Moore added 12. Nick Litton (Campbell County) was outstanding inside scoring 9 points and snatching double digit boards and key put backs to help his squad gather their initial victory.
Tevin Gunn (Hardin Valley) led Team Naler, who fell to 1-3, with 13 points. Kyle Anders (Knoxville Catholic) finished with 11 markers in the loss.
