Barford Leads the Way at TPH Nashville Fall League

Action got back underway in Nashville as Week #5 of the Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League tipped back off at CPA. Here are the results of the day's action.

Championship week is this Saturday at CPA. I will post the schedule at the bottom of this article as well as information on who plays in every box score as well. I will also send out the weekly emails as always for your convenience.

 

 

Kentucky 71

LSU 69

Jacob Saunders (Cheatham County) scored 29 points including all four of his team's overtime scoring as Kentucky drifted past LSU 71-69 in overtime. Saunders had a monster game lighting up the CPA scoreboard and was followed closely in the scoring column by Jalen Duke (MLK), who finished with 20.

LSU got 25 from Rob Marberry (FRA) and 14 from Trenton Perry (Independence). The loss drops LSU to 2-3 overall and they will battle with Duke at 10:00 this Saturday.

Kentucky raises their final season mark to 3-2 and will battle previously unblemished Clemson at 12:00.    

 

 

Wake Forest 95

Georgia Tech 82

Jacob Williams (Wilson Central) was huge scoring 28 points as Wake Forest pulled away late from a determined Georgia Tech squad 95-82 in Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League action this past Saturday.

Williams got plenty of scoring help including 13 each from Jalen Hunter (Goodpasture) and Chase Nappier (Lighthouse). Wake Forest will take their 3-2 mark and tangle with Florida at 11:00 this Saturday at CPA.

Georgia Tech falls to 1-4 and will battle Tennessee at 9:00.

Leading the charge for Tech was Adrian Scott (Cane Ridge) and Austin Mullinax (Waverly Central) with 16 each followed closely by Zane Hutton (Harpeth) and Garrett Smith (Harpeth) with 13 and 12 respectively.

 

 

Florida 91

Tennessee 85

Jalen Lindsey (CPA) put on a show for the home folks scoring 38 points leading Florida to a hard fought 91-85 win over Tennessee. With the win Florida moves to 2-3 on the regular season and will battle Wake Forest at 11:00 this Saturday.

Joining Lindsey in the scoring column were Austin Brown (Cumberland County) and Will Jennings (Nashville Overton) with 12 points each. Jennings did an outstanding job controlling the tempo of the game and finished with a double/double as well.

T.J Steward (Siegel) added 11 in the win.

Tennessee, which drops to 0-5, will battle with Georgia Tech at 9:00 this Saturday.

Leading the way for Tennessee, who placed four players in double digits were A.J. Merriweather (Jackson Southside) with 25, Will Groos (Brentwood) with 19, Chance Bouldin (FRA) with 14 and Joshua Joy (DCA) with 10.    

 

 

North Carolina 78

Clemson 71

Terry Holt (East Nashville) drained three foul shots at the end of regulation to force overtime as North Carolina bested Clemson 78-71 in one of the best game of the fall league season.

A back and forth affair saw several lead changes and some serious scoring efforts from Holt, who finished with 26 and Liam Nash (USN) who also added 26 in the win.

By virtue of the victory over Clemson, North Carolina took West Division honors and will play in the title game at 1:00 this Saturday at CPA. Clemson will play Kentucky at 12:00.

Joining Holt and Nash in the scoring column for North Carolina was Clay Hertel (DCA) who finished with 12.

Five Clemson played logged double digits led by Daniel Norl (Kenwood) and Kenny Cooper (FRA) with 15 points each. Braxton Bonds (CPA) finished with 13, Carson Outlaw (DCA) added 11 and Terrell Brown (Lead Academy) finished with 10.  

 

 

Vanderbilt 103

Duke 89

Jaylen Barford (Jackson Southside) scored a game high 40 as Vanderbilt clinched the East Division crown by virtue of a 103-89 win over Duke.

Vanderbilt will battle North Carolina for the Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League Championship at 1:00.

Barford was far from alone as four teammates added double figures including a big 24 from Cole Harrison (Brentwood), 15 from Chas Jones (Cane Ridge), 14 from the steady hand of Austin Gee (Ezell-Harding) and 11 from Leon Howard (Nashville Overton).

Jake Allsmiller (CPA) had the hot hand scoring 27 points including 5 deep balls.Austin Dole (Harpeth) played his best game of the fall league adding 19 points including 17 in the second half for Duke, who falls to 2-3 on the regular season and will battle LSU at 10:00 on Championship Saturday.

Nate Moran (BGA) also played an outstanding game scoring 17 points in the tough loss.
