Not all the hoops in the country were played in Arkansas last weekend. The Mid-State Ballerz ventured up to Cincinnati for the Bearcat Classic and showed the people of Ohio they belonged.

In the 17 and under division the Ballerz finished 4-1 losing in bracket play to the Shining Stars despite 18 points from Jacob Lloyd (Westview). Myron Johnson (Hamilton) joined the fold this tournament and provided outstanding scoring and penetration to the hoop. Also playing well for the Ballerz were Grant Kindred (Kentucky), Jeff Graham (Hamilton) and Oscar Butler (Siegel).

A final four finish coupled with a 5-1 record highlighted the weekend for the 16 and under Ballerz falling in the semi-final to the Cincinnati Royals. Chase Winslow (USJ) had an outstanding game scoring 22 points and dropping six three's in the process. Playing well all weekend were the guard duo of Rafeal Tyler (Lake County) and Tay Kennedy (Dyer County). Also drawing some praise with their consistent effort throughout the weekend were Aaron Wheeler (Morristown East) and Ced Taylor (Dyer County), who was shining very bright before an injury limited his play.

The 15 and under Ballerz made a nice surge and finished as part of the Elite Eight. A record of 4-1 sparked the youngster who got outstanding play from Robert Brandon (Siegel), Davis Soehn (Gatlinburg-Pittman) and Tay Martin (Siegel).

Look for the Ballerz this weekend at the String Music Showcase in Nashville. Story on this event to follow later this evening.
