Jose Agosto (Gatlinburg-Pittman) has been a very welcome addition to the Gatlinburg-Pittman hoops community.
He along with two other prominent newcomers have propelled the Highlanders off to one of their best starts ever at 12-1.
Adding the Smokey Mountain Classic Championship was merely icing on the proverbial cake.
Agosto dropped 21 points and grabbed 12 boards leading the Highlanders past Station Camp 57-46 to capture the crown.
Agosto completed a superb week of hoops scoring 24 points and snatching 13 boards in the opening 75-55 win over Painstville (KY.), then notched 12 markers and 13 caroms in the win over Macon County.
For his efforts Agosto was named MVP of the classic and was joined on the glitter squad by McKinley Maples (Gatlinburg-Pittman) and Morrease Barber (Gatlinburg-Pittman).
Maples had a fine week shooting the basketball, accounting for 21 points in the win over Macon County and the final newcomer Marquis Wall (Gatlinburg-Pittman) averaged 12 per game for the tourney.
