The 5th annual Tennessee Prep Hoops Best in State tournament concluded last Saturday with action in all three of the significant age groups. Here is the breakdown of the 15 and under division.
Chattannoga Elite 54
RTB Elite 29
Malik Hymon (Brainerd) was a force from the get go dropping 20 markers as the Chattanooga Elite 15U blasted out of the gate with a 54-29 win over Ricky Taylor Basketball (RTB Elite).
Kevin Halfacre (Brainerd) and Demarcus Hinton (Chattanooga Christian) added 15 and 12 in the victory for the Elite.
Jonathan Rogers (East Hamilton) led RTB with 9.
Chattanooga Elite 64
USSAA 49
The Elite moved to 2-0 at the 5th annual Best in State with a 64-49 victory over Nashville based USSAA. Malik Hymon (Brainerd) again took scoring honors with a tournament best 21 markers in the 15U division.
Javon Craddock (Tyner Academy) added 13 points in the win followed closely by Kevin Halfacre (Brainerd) and Mike Houge (Chattanooga Christian) with 10.
John Windley (Brentwood) and Matt Thurmond (Franklin) led USSAA with 8 apiece.
EOTO 77
USSAA 60
B.J. Marable (Fulton) led four in double digits with 17 as EOTO opened play with a victory over USSAA 77-60.
Joining Marable in the scoring column were Javonte Thomas (Oak Ridge) with 15, Uriah Powers (Knoxville Webb) with 14 and Jayden Doyle (South Doyle) with 11.
William Hoyle (Cane Ridge) and William Harrison Witt (MBA) dropped 10 each for USSAA in the loss.
EOTO 74
RTB Elite 19
Javonte Thomas (Oak Ridge) and James Coleman (Fulton) scored 14 points each as EOTO moved to 2-0 on the day with a 74-19 triumph over RTB Elite.
Jayden Doyle (South Doyle) added 12 while B.J. Marable (Fulton) pitched in with 10 in the victory.
USSAA 60
RTB Elite 41
Konata Werts (Brentwood Academy) scored a game high 15 markers as USSAA came away with their first win of the event 60-41 over the RTB Elite from Chattanooga.
Ian Shropshire (Ooltewah) and Eric Johnson (Howard) scored 13 and 11 for RTB in the losing cause.
EOTO 76
Chattanooga Elite 72
The two unbeatens faced off for the mantle as top 15 and under team at the 5th annual Tennessee Prep Hoop Best in State event and the game proved to be everything we hoped it could be.
Tevon Summers (Knoxville Central) scored 19 and Javonte Thomas (Oak Ridge) added 17 as EOTO moved to 3-0 for the event with a hard fought 76-72 victory over the Chattanooga Elite.
Jalen Geer (Knoxville Webb) and Uriah Powers (Knoxville Webb) added 10 points each in the victory. Special mention to Kendrick Holland (South Doyle) who made numerous game winning plays throughout the entire day for EOTO.
Malik Hymon (Brainerd) took game scoring honors with another 20 point game while Mike Houge (Chattanooga Christian) chipped in with 17 in the narrow loss.
