423 vs. 865 Showdown Game Capsules and Scoring Leaders

The second annual 423 vs. 865 Showdown took to the hardwood at Jefferson County High School this past weekend with six games featuring the top teams from the competing Fall Leagues. Here is how the action went down.

 

 

Team Leveau 72

Team Coffin 65

 

Brady Lawson (Science Hill) and Zander Phillips (Tennessee) scored 22 and 21 points respectively as Team Leveau got past Team Coffin in the opening contest 72-65.

 

Eli Day (Dobyns-Bennett) used his large frame for key buckets down the stretch and finished with 17 markers.

 

Kaleb Walker (Powell) led all scorers with 24 in the loss.

 

Brennan Scott (Oak Ridge) added 22 while Noah Brewer (Powell) closed with 16 in defeat.

Team Holt 84

Team Releford 54

 

JD Harris (Knoxville Central) scored early and often, finishing with 19 points, as Team Holt bested Team Releford 84-54.

 

Harris led a balanced attack that saw three others finish in double digits including Grady Robertson (William Blount) with 16, Dallas Carbaugh (Farragut) added 11 and Lucas Erozen (Gatlinburg-Pittman) finished with 10.

 

Talan Higgins (Jefferson County) and Parker Leming (West Ridge) led Team Releford with 12 each.

 

Kyler Hayes (Cocke County) concluded with 10.

Team Murphy 77

Team Purcell 74

 

Cade Murphy (Knoxville Catholic) finished with 18 as Team Murphy pushed past a very good Team Purcell 77-74 in what was one of the best games of the day.

 

Kobe Franklin (Lenoir City) had one of his best games of the season closing with 15 points while Deondrea Lindsey (Knoxville Catholic) finished with 10.

 

Brady Stump (Dobyns-Bennett) was at his best in this one finishing with 28 points in the loss. If you have not watched him play, do yourself a favor and go do it.

 

Charlie McHugh (Dobyns Bennett) and Ty Steisslinger (Morristown West) finished with 12 and 11 respectively.

Team Potts 90

Team Feltner 79

 

Kyle Cloninger (Morristown East) had everyone in the gym talking after his 31 point performance leading Team Potts to  a 90-79 win in the third place game of the 423 vs. 865 Showdown.

 

Mason Smith (Morristown East) had a fine outing as well dropping 23 markers while Will Price (Cherokee) closed with 12 in the win.

 

Balance was the recipe for Team Feltner with 5 players finishing in double digits led by Nick Johnson (Maryville) and Nick Ellis (Carter) with 17 each.

 

Grayson Strader (Oak Ridge) added 12 while Dalton McNew (Carter) and Zane Brown (Carter) finished with 11 each.

Team Potter 72

Team Jarnagin 65

 

Dom Tweed (Greeneville) led a very balanced attack against a shorthanded Team Jarnagin with a 20 spot as Team Potter cruised to the victory 72-65.

 

Joining Tweed in the scoring brigade were Trey Thompson (Greeneville) with 15, Andrew Cole (University) with 12 and JD Woosley (Greeneville) with 10.

 

Taj Kimber (Fulton) led his squad with 24 while Tyler Lee (Fulton) added 20 in the loss.

 

Denaj Kimber (Fulton) closed with 13.

Team Lane 78

Team Cassell 72

 

Team Lane overcame a dynamic performance from Jamar Livingston (Daniel Boone) to capture the title game at the 2nd annual 423 vs. 865 Showcase 78-72.

 

Livingston was outstanding keeping his team out front for majority of the game with his league high 36 markers but a late surge from Team Lane proved to much as they coasted to the victory.

 

Drew Branson (Grainger) and Alex Doerger (Knoxville Catholic) dropped 15 each while Caleb Asbaty (Knoxville Catholic) and Yesan Warren (Knoxville Catholic) added 14 each for the victors.

 

Jason Britton (North Greene) had a solid game in his own right finishing with 26 markers in the close loss.
