2015 Border Wars Tips on Saturday (Tennessee vs. Alabama)

Tennessee vs. Alabama

The Vols against the Tide, not quite, but the intensity should be high as the inaugural Border Wars Basketball Showcase tips off this Saturday at Hoover High School in Alabama.

Three top teams from the state of Alabama will do battle with three of the Volunteer states best for the right to take home the bragging rights as the 2015 Border Wars Champions.

The action kicks off at 4:00 as Birmingham Ramsey welcomes traditional Tennessee power Memphis White Station.

The Spartans have struggled this year with a combination of youth and lack of size but can always be a formidable opponent with senior scoring sensation Nych Smith (White Station) and future gridiron legend Dillon Mitchell (White Station).

The future is also shining bright for the Spartans with two of the cities top Class of 2018 players in Braxton Winford (White Station) and Carlos Sandifer (White Station).

Murfreesboro Blackman, the defending Class AAA state champions, takes the court for the 6:00 showdown against Mountain Brook.

The Blaze bring poise and experience into the contest led by senior point guard Isaiah Hart (Blackman) and workhorse senior forward Christian DeWitt (Blackman).

Coach Wortman will look to rising junior gunner Cedriontis Wilson (Blackman) for production from the perimeter to counter the size of Mountain Brook.

In the nightcap the host squad Hoover welcomes the Lions of Christ Presbyterian Academy.

CPA is currently ranked #1 in the states Class AA poll and features two of the states best players in nationally ranked and highly recruited junior wunderkind Braxton Blackwell (CPA) and precocious Class of 2019 point guard dynamo Tyger Campbell (CPA).

CPA will look to the outside marksmanship of rising senior and Indiana Wesleyan signee Micah Davis (CPA) and junior shot maker Evan Ragsdale (CPA) for timely buckets on the perimeter.

The games will be televised in Nashville on WUXP-TV.
